I think this one a question we can all say what we think we'd do if we found ourselves in the same circumstances (or we would like to think we'd do). But, to be honest, none of know what we'd actually do until it happens.
A while ago I found a roll of bank notes in the street (probably about £1k ) I handed it in (after all it was somebodies money) ---- having done that I could not honestly say that I would do it again. I would like to think that I would --- but .... until it happens .....
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

You wont know how you would react to recieving a large sum of money until it happens, I think people are fooling themselves on hear, money talks and you wouldn't give it up if you thought you could get away with it.......................be real people!
I would give it up. I think a lot of us can say that with hand on heart.
I would be too worried about it being found out.

not sure if he said he was telling you what to do all he said is all the posters are saying what they would do when they arnt in the situation .we can all say id do this and that but when it comes down to it who knows what we would do ?
I think that the vast majority of posters on here would be honest and declare it to their IP's.
We all want to pay back as much as we can to our creditors and I know that if I were solvent and came into money then I would use it to pay off my debts. This is no different.

Ok. When he said "people are fooling themselves....you wouldn't give it up if you thought you could get away with it" he wasn't making a judgement on how we would all act!
I am a bit curious abot Sophie0119s post. O.K. - so one enters into an IVA in a "blind panic". By entering an IVA - presumably that means phoning an IVA company and sending in all the initial documents.
BUT - one still has weeks / months whilst the proposal is prepared and the Creditors Meeting scheduled. Does "blind panic" continue or would it not be normal to use some / all of these weeks / months to acquaint oneself with the ins and outs of an IVA - particularly ones own - and any related implications? Surely it would be jolly unusual to submit an IVA proposal and then sit back and think - Hey Ho - I will forget about that now!!??!!??
Each to their own I guess but - to new forum readers - please read up on IVAs before committing to one- make sure you understand your responsibilities AND the requirment to inform your I.P. of windfalls etc. It is not rocket science!!!
i remember the stress and depression banks cc companies and debt collectors gave me before my iva and most of that was idle threats (which i have learned to be so since)
so fair play to anyone who can hide a few quid from these vile people
and lets face facts most debt is racked up by disgusting interest rates anyhow .
30p in the pound is probably all most folk really owe anyhow
I appreciate your point of view Fuzzy Dunlop - but noone is obliged to enter into business with these "vile people". Signing for a credit card is a legal contract entered into voluntarily and - much as we may regret it later - noone twisted our arms to sign. We did it of our own free will. What happens thereafter splinters into a million examples but - like it or not - we IVAers signed those forms!!!! End of story - we borrowed it - we owe it.
I would imagine that 95% of Credit Card holders enjoy a perfectly good relationship with their companies - cashback...loyalty points... discounts....blah blah.. and would never dream of slagging them off.
