yep i have to say, i am really proud of her,
and dispite her initial dissapointment feel she has looked at the whole situation in a very adult manner.

What a great mum and what a well brought up daughter! You handled the situation perfectly and I'm sure lots of posters with kids will be able to draw on this experience at some point in their ivas.

in all honesty, i think i did it that way as much to ease my concience, as to explain to her.
i just wanted to make her understand i would have loved to have been able to have paid for her to go, by writing it down on paper she could see for herself it was impossible.

It was inspired and the best part is that your daughter is thinking about the value of money and deciding for herself how to spend it wisely. I wish you could give me lessons!

Sounds like you have a lovely daughter and being brought up by a lovely Mum.

My daughter is currently funding driving lessons herself from her Saturday job but there is no way she can afford a car and as much as it pains me I can't get her a little car either. Today we visited her sister who suggested she put herself on her car insurance (once passed) and she can use the car Friday night until Sunday night...what a lovely gesture and my youngest is now walking on air with the potential use of a little KA x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

What a lovely sensible daughter you have Kat. We're looking into going to Florida for our honeymoon so I can understand where you're coming from regarding the price of everything - we're going out of season and it'll still be a struggle.

I hope your shoulder is on the mend. I know how painful that is as OH has dislocated his 3 or 4 times...

Don't get too disappointed at the prospect of car insurance for a newly qualified driver. My colleague got quoted £3,000 per annum to put her son on her policy.
