Well as many posters here now know we are going down the IVA route.
have not had to many calls till now but now getting a few more, mostly from capitol one and barclay card.

so I got a new game, probably should not do this but it has made us laugh.

1. call comes in
"can I speak Too *****

2. response
"Just one moment I have to record this call for my insolvency file"

3.
"I have to inform you this call is now being recorded, may I have your name please"

4.
"May I have your date of birth, and the department you are calling from"

5.
" Do you have your supervisors name or the person who instructed you to make this call"

6.They ask if they are speaking to ******** and can you confirm ( usual id check questions)

7. Response
" I cannot release this information at present, however our appointed IP will be in contact in due course, so it appears we cannot continue with this conversation, thank you for your call"

8. hang up

9. roll around on the floor laughing at the poor guy who was unsure and unprepared for that.

I know it's not the callers fault , doing the job and all that but it is a good stress reliever.

Good idea.

However, you could just refuse from the outset to answer their security questions and the call will be terminated much quicker.

The callers are all on commission and really don't care what tactics they use to get you to pay money. Some of them even get prizes for getting people to cough up.

Don't waste your sympathy on them.

Yes Kallis3 you are right, I sometimes don't even answer and let it go to answer phone, but there is always the option for a little sport ;-)

I couldn't be bothered to do that.

I ignored the calls, just communicated by letter.

My hubby is a wind up merchant to anyone from telesales, he has me in stitches sometimes as he's very serious and I'm sure the person on the other end thinks they've reached teh Asylum!
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I'm afraid I'm very much of the 'I'm not interested' brigade.

I'm the same when it comes to people calling at the house.

My hubby just loves religious callers though! He will keep them talking. The last lot ended up looking at their watches and beating a hasty retreat!

I think the message has got out that he is not a religious person though - don't think we've had any since![:D][:D]

Dave's like that - he used to invite Jehovah Witnesses in. He managed to offend the last lot of Mormons though when he offered them a lager!

some years ago the company I used to fit my window keep calling to ask if I would like a conservatorie after telling them many time no. I got feed up with the calls and when they phone up again I booked a time for them to come and price it up.
when the saleman called he said I have come to price up for a conservatorie but your on the frist floor.

my reply was, now stop calling or will book a date again.
never phone again[:D]
IVA now over with and it was worth it.
now starting my life again,

[:D] I like that darkdog. ...a few times when I've been asked security questions I've refused and then they simply say they can't continue the call, fine by me [:D]

My nan used to run rings around JW's when they called...[:D]

I just hang up any cold calls,or ask why, given I am ex direcory and on the telephone preference list they are ringing in the first place...and then hang up.
I find a quick flash of my pentacle necklace at any religious group along with a "you're wasting your time" gets shot of them quickly enough.

Hubby absolutely loves talking to them as he is a total atheist. They've not won an argument yet!
