Hubby and I have both received a letter this morning from a firm called Garrow Financial telling us that we may have been missold our IVA (yawn, yawn). It tells us that we may be able to renegotiate our IVA (what?????).

I've looked up the website and it is under construction, so no further information there.

They will visit me in my home and the initial consultation is free.

It does not mention bankruptcy at all, just says it will go through all the options available to me.

I shall consign it to the recycling bin, unless David would like to see it?

Hi Jan

Your IP might be interested too. I like the initial consultation is free, that does make me laugh, sounds like they are trying to do you a favour.

I might do that Lily. They don't really bother me, more of a nuisance than anything else. But at least if anyone else on here or who is hovering sees this, they should know to ignore them.

Jan

If you have a mind for it, why not give them a call to see what advice they give and to find out who is behind them. This information could be useful to other posters.

I've just phoned them. At least it was a freephone number. The guy I spoke to was very pleasant - South African accent.

He was very cagey though about what my options were other than that I could be made to sell my house if they made me bankrupt.

He said he couldn't tell me anything else without coming round to the house and looking at the IVA documents, which I told him I didn't want at the moment.

The firm is based in Telford as they do have a return address, and the letter is signed by a Roy Garrow.

No mention of any other fees, and I doubt he would tell me until after an initial visit.

Wow Jan, get them round. You can have a nice cup of tea and a chat and maybe get your IVA wiped out! Fabulous!

It doesn't arf p me off these companies poking their snouts into already fully functioning IVA's, why don't they sod off and mind their own business and stop making business out of people who have already gone through the stresses of applying for an IVA in the first place. Grrrrrrrrrr, oh and excuse me , but where did they the addresses from i wonder, oooh now let me think about that one, it's hard you see. Double Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr, and ignore the nice south african accent, wolves in sheep's clothing. Rarrrr. Ignore the letter, shred it, and post back the shreds marking the envelope urgent. Bitch over#13;#10;

They're not saying that they can wipe it out, just that it can be 're negotiated (whatever that means) or failed and they will tell me of other options.

Well excuse me, but I thought there was only BR or DMP otherwise and why would I want either of those?

Quark, it is so annoying that they can just trawl the register and send off these letters. Ok, us on here know to ignore them, but others don't and will probably phone up thinking they can be helped out of a hole.

I'm hanging on to the letter, so if he sees this tonight and lets me know, I can forward it on to him - otherwise it's the recycling bin!

I think you should invite him round for tea Jan - he is not far from you geographically, and the boredom of being off work must now be starting to set in. Go for it girl - and put him through his paces. With your past experience, and interviewing technique, I wish I could be a fly on the wall. Do you think we could get IVA TV to have a secret hidden camera!
