Having just discovered this site I wanted to give a shout-out to my IP who is, I believe, also a relatively new member here. Philip Beck (http://www.freeivaadvice.co.uk) has been fantastic during my entire IVA process which began just over a year ago, with my IVA being approved in February last year.

One thing that I really appreciated was that throughout the entire process Philip was very business-like and never tried to be a sympathetic friend who would tell me what I wanted to hear. He was very knowledgeable (I had a fantastic phone conversation with one of my creditors rather than a nightmare one courtesy of the facts he had armed me with) and since my IVA was approved he has been very quick and efficient in answering any questions I have had.

Thats a very good post from WolfUK. I remember - before starting my IVA - reading the very informative R3 booklet called "Is a Voluntary Arrangement right for me?" This makes clear that once an IVA is approved the I.Ps role becomes that of (I quote) - "honest broker - to act even-handedly between you and your creditors and to ensure that the terms of the proposal are fulfilled."

Like WolfUK says - a business-like approach is best - together with the realisation that there will probably be times when your I.P. has to tell you things you did not really want to hear!!!
47 months completed - 13 months to go.

Congratulations on your IVA being approved WolfUK, and Im glad to hear that your relationship with your I.P is a good one. Too many people these days are so desperate to sort out their debt problems that they go with the first company they call, which can turn out to be a difficult experience.
