I agree with Lily that admin should make the final decisions. I dont feel they remove all negative posts just the ones that could offend or as said may be there just to cause a stir and see the reaction.
The forum works well as it is and though debate is a good thing some posts could be upsetting to some, especially first time readers, and therefore I feel should be removed.
I saw the post which Melanie replied to and it just made a negative statement about iva providers. No argument with it as to why. If I was stressed and looking for help that statement would immediately worry me so better to not be there I think.

I also think that the decision should rest with Admin. I didn't see the post that you're talking about but if it is just to start a pointless argument then I'm sure it doesn't help anyone.

Optimist, YOU tend to edit your own posts a lot of the time, that must be because you don't want to upset people either. I'm quick! so I tend to catch your first post and then your edited post so I see what you delete![;)][:D] Viki X

I think the forum is so strong and such a support and help to all because it is a non judgemental and friendly place.

I looked around at other forums and was horrified at some of them and would never post, but then I found this forum and it helped me beyond any words can express.

I think Admin and Andy do a fab job in keeping the forum a great place.

I don't think there is anything wrong with a bit of healthy debate as everyone has different views but would not want anything to damage the integrity the forum has[:)]
Be positive & look after yourself, there are more important things in life than debts....

I don't think there's anything wrong with a good debate BUT some people who use the forum, not everyone posts, are very new to all this turmoil and are very confused and easily swayed....we see it all the time when they start getting letters which make them panic.
Another point to add is, although most of us won't ever be in a position to pay all of our debt back, we do want to do the responsible thing. Some of the posts lately that have been removed insinuated that it was better to scr*w the creditors, that it was their own fault and they were only getting what they deserved...not very responsible!
I think that's what makes this forum work so well, we have faced upto our debt and are dealing with it in the best way, sometimes the only way, we can.
xx
It's nice to be back......

exactly everybodies circumstances are so different.. from the level of debt they are in, to the only way they can survive it.. My finances were awful and i could never be judgemental or opinionated about others.. (kettle and pot would spring to mind)

You are absolutely right Viki!!!

I do quite often post and then worry that I may offend someone - hence my editing!!! I do feel - as I said in a much argued previous post - that there are two sides to every story and a place for a frank exchange of views. However- it is also true that this forum is brilliant at providing support and information for people seeking advice and that - I think - is its intended - and achieved - raison d'etre.

It is important though that people do not get a rose-tinted view of IVAs and - more importantly - their responsibilities in taking on an IVA. It is not an easy ride and - moreover - we must all take our share of responsibility for having got where we are.

Thank you for your interesting comments!!!

Hear, hear Chris. Healthy debate is good, and this forum does do a lot of good for people in this situation.

As long as admin continues to monitor the site, I think our healthy debate and our help for others in need should continue as it does.

I did see the post and hesitated on replying as the poster had just joined and from my intuiation had posted just to cause trouble!

Personally I think admin were right in deleting the post because people who wanted to embark on the IVA process have enough negative comments on other forums and maybe, I hope they get an unbiased informative response to their situation here.
