Or do what some others do, ask them to hang on for a min and just leave the phone on the side.
I guarantee that they wont be there 10 mins later[;)]

Or put it by a radio and leave the music playing - loudly!

No prizes for guessing who called first..............MERCERS. They rang at 08.58 and hung up. I'll call them back at 10.30 to say Happy New Year, I didn't win the lottery on Xmas eve, and it wasn't my wife who won 1 million on that scratchcard.

What galls me is that depaite being told the situation they keep calling writung and charging which just inflates the debt to claim. I feel less guilty than I did after reflecting about the way these people systemically behave.

Unfortunately they will do that stoneyB. If your proposal has now gone im, then it shouldn't be long till your meeting so not much in the way of charges to be added between then and now.

In a perverse way it help me. It proves how inefficient and greedy they are and they are as much to blame as me for what's going to happen!

hey stirling when mercers call again-be prepared to explain to them what an iva is. it took a 15 min call (at their cost) to explain as best i could what an iva was to the guy on the phone.
imagine him then saying 'ah thanks at least we have a clearer idea what you have done '
ER ???

You'd think these people would have some understanding!

I had a similar problem with Tesco Personal Finance. They were one of my creditors when I went BR and they defaulted me after the BR, which they shouldn't do. I phoned them and pointed out I was BR, and they said they didn't know so I gave them the BR number and date. The guy on the phone then said but our systems shows you went BR in June...

He then said I had to make a payment so I said no I didn't as I wasn't legally allowed to and explained BR to him.

Not surprisingly Tesco are the only company who haven't updated my credit file to show partially satisfied. They'll soon be reported to the Information Commissioner though and hopefully they will be able explain to them how BR works!
