[:(]Nothing different to the start of almost every other day, got up, took dog for a walk, sat down to some tea and toast. About 8:30 ish the dog didn't seem to know what he was doing or what was going on around him, he was stumbling about and making a low moaning sound before he collapsed on the living room floor. Dropped everything grabbed the dog and rushed him to the vets, which is but 3 mins drive away. He had suffered a massive heart attack and the vet indicated there was pretty much nothing she could do to save him. He was put to sleep and passed very peacefully in my arms.
Over 13 years of unconditional love, companionship and trust from my friend who I will miss for a long time to come.

Oh Liverpig, I'm so so sorry.

Your dog gave you 13 years of unconditional love, companionship and trust and you in return gave 13 years of the same to your pal.

Run free little one.

A huge hug to you liverpig xx

Horrible day! I'm very sorry. Losing our canine friends is terrible but it's a small but hard price to pay for all the love, fun, companionship, entertainment and many other things we receive in return. You feed them. You walk them. You clean up their poo and you love them to bits and then they go and break your b***** heart.
Take Care Liverpig

Oh I'm so so sorry to hear this news, its so hard when we lose a pet.

when we lost our dog also 13 I was sent this poem and regularly read it. i hope you don't find it too distressing.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I couldn't read your post Leakybrain, let alone watch a video. Anything to do with animals starts me off.

liverpig, my heartfelt sympathy

Had to put my old boxer boy to sleep this year, 14yrs old. What a site! me, a big roughy toughy rugby player, my 24yr old and 23 yr old sons, both 6'2", stood soobing over him.

Be at peace realising that he is free and one day he will be waiting for you at Rainbow Bridge. (We discovered this 5 year ago when we lost my old boys brother to a brain tumour).

Our thoughts are with you.

What an amazing poem. I feel quite tearful. My old Max has been gone a few years, she was after all sixteen but I thought she would go on forever. She went within 24 hours and for that I will always be thankful. Be strong Liverpig, ater all, he will be watching over you.

Liverpig I am so sorry, I know what you are going through. We lost a 14 year old dog to a stroke a couple of years ago. At least he had a happy time with you.

Time does heal. We have three dogs now but not a day goes by when I don't think of the ones we have lost.

This was something I posted for a fellow forum user earlier this year ... I hope she won't mind if I repeat it for you .....

There is one best place to bury a dog.
If you bury him in this spot, he will
come to you when you call - come to you
over the grim, dim frontier of death,
and down the well-remembered path,
and to your side again.

And though you call a dozen living
dogs to heel, they shall not growl at
him, nor resent him coming,
for he belongs there.

People may scoff at you, who see
no lightest blade of grass bent by him
who hear no whimper, people who may
never really have had a dog.

Smile at them, for you shall know
something that is hidden from them,
and which is well worth the knowing.

"The one best place to bury a good
dog is in the heart of his mistress."

My condolences

Very sad Liverpig mate.
I remember that one Ray, brought a lump to the throat again.
If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.

Funds paid to date accepted as F&F 16th August 2013, the wait for completion begins.
Wait over....certificate recieved 3rd May 2014
