finally managed to register
Been trying to negotiate settling my iva early by releasing enough equity to cover the next 2 years contributions plus the estimated 15000 equity that should have been raised in the final year.
My problem is, if i try to ring my ip i am told he does not take calls and everything has to come by form of a letter.
The whole process could take months if everything has to be done this way and this will mean paying more in fees. I have had an offer in principle from a mortgage company to raise this ammount but the offer doesnt last for very long at that interest rate.
I have read in other posts about people with he same iva firm being able to sort things via email but nobody will give me an email address for my ip.
Any suggestions would be very welcome [:(]

Hi skint and welcome to the forum

This sort of post is starting to become too frequent - I simply cannot understand why some members of my profession continue refuse to deal with their own clients. But it is better to confirm things in writing, so that he can see what you are trying to achieve.

If you go onto the insolvency service website - and onto the "Find and IP" page - type in your IP's surname, and lo and behold you will find an e-mail address for him. Use of delivery and read receipts is also a good idea, so you can track if he has read your mail.

Let us know how you get on.

I sent a letter to him a week ago by recorded delivery and still the call centre people tell me that no letter has arrived.
My marriage is really suffering because of the iva as the debt were in my name only. I really need out of this soon befor either the stress or the rising interest rates ruin us completely

I assume that you are dealing with one of the larger firms, rather than a smaller, specialist practice? Have you found the e-mail address yet?

Certainly not - he is acting for you, and owes you a duty of care to deal with you professionally and with courtesy. Although you may be one of his several hundred clients, without you he would not be where he is!

Hi
This is the sort of "service" that makes me angry.IVA providers do themselves no favours with this lack of respect for the person that,at the end of the day,is their customer.
If anybody is contemplating an IVA and reading this then I urge you to take your time in choosing a provider, see how easy it is to speak with the IP and make sure that you are happy with the service that they provide AFTER the IVA has been agreed.Have a look at feedback on IVA.com
regards

Hi Skint, please email the IP as Melanie suggested. He is there to provide a service to you as well as the creditors, and he needs to remember that he is being paid to do that. It seems to me from what I read on the forum that too many IPs do not want to speak to their clients (either that or their minions decide they won't speak!) and as I said in an earlier post they need to remember that these are people's lives, and they are going through a very stressful time.

Melanie and Catullus, please don't think that my comments are in any way directed at you. They are directed at the 'battery farms' (I like that phrase!) that are giving decent IP's a bad name.

OK, I'll get down off my soapbox!

ok i bit the bullet a sent an email twice (2nd time by accident haha)
Heres hoping we get a reply before the mortgae offer at that particular interest rate expires ( 1 week )
We do not want to put in a formal offer till we get the go-ahead because it would be my kind brother that would be funding the money for the valuation (approx £300 which is refundable once mortgage completes) and i wouldnt want him to be in any way out of pocket.

Here's a question for Andy. Is it possible for Iva.co.uk to canvass some of these IVA factories and maybe include a few of the negative posts regarding how difficult it is for clients to put forward variation proposals or I/E changes because they cannot get past the screening procedures of the call centres. Maybe they can be encouraged to post their replies on here.

Dave
