Hunter does not want a paid for bank account.

I disagree about the Co-op - they are very IVA friendly.

They are IVA friendly IF your debt is not with them as they see the debt is still live.

No good for Hunter then as they have a debt with the Co-op.

Hunter also had debts with Barclays so that's not an option either.

May I suggest Stu, that you read the original post to see which creditors Hunter has?

Yes I AM aware of the debts with Barclays however they are very understanding to people with credit problems including debts with them.

So I Would suggest speaking to Barclays and let them know the situation they MAY be able to help

I had a poke round the Internet and came across the Clydesdale Bank Readycash account. Offers Maestro Card. Clydesdale is owned by the National Bank of Australia so I don't think has any relation to your IVA creditors. Here is the link (I'm not sure this is within IVA forum protocol)

It has always been said on here that you should not have an account with one of your creditors, sympathetic or not.

Clydesdale sound reasonable and so do Yorkshire.

Barclays aren't that sympthetic - I had a debt with Barclaycard and they wouldn't let me open a basic account even when I'd been discharged.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I'll have a look into some of the options you've given me - hope they are possible as it's really annoying not having a debit card!

Yorkshire Bank do a Ready Cash Account with a Maestro debit card and I think are ok with people in IVAs (I have a friend with an account with them)

I would recommend the CashPlus Prepaid MasterCard, works like a credit card (I have one) and can be used on the internet etc. But as previously stated by others is "paid for" at £4.99 pm.

If you want a good prepaid card, then I can recommend Payplan. It costs £4.99 to set up, but then no monthly fees.
