My last glasses came from Specsavers. I used to be on their £10 monthly disposable contacts but I started getting all sorts of problems and then got an eye infection so decided to change to dailies, which are so much more comfortable, but so much more expensive! I want to order the next batch online as they are cheaper, and if I go through a cashback site I can get a bit more back!

The only reason I was able to afford the laser treatment was on a credit card, and my parents gave me half towards it.

Since then I have only had to fork out for a couple of pairs of reading glasses (the dog chewed one pair!) and these only cost me a tenner.

For some reason, I don't need them at work, but only for reading books and newspapers at home.

I can recommend it if you can afford it (or have parents who can pay!)

Yes I would. I don't deny that it is very painful for the first few hours, and you do look a bit of a prat wearing goggles to go to bed for the first week (only to stop you rubbing your eyes) but it was one of the best things I ever did.

Hi, mu brother-in-law had laser surgery on his eyes and he was in agony for the 1st 24 hours or so but after that he recovered very quickly and he doesn't regret it at all.

I on the other hand am not brave or rich enough for such luxuries and last week I dropped my hard contact lens on the floor and it snapped in two!!! Now have to fork out at least £55 for lense plus £25 for check up - ho hum - at least it should last me the next 5 years or so!

It'll be a long time before I can afford to get it done, but I thought I'd use that time to get people's opinions and experiences and do my research.

Sorry to hear about your contact lens Kitkat - I've always worn disposables, so I didn't realise how expensive they were!

Regarding glasses, there is website called (I think) Glasses Direct and they are a lot cheaper than the high street stores. I need some prescription sunglasses, so I'm going to order a pair on there as they start at £15 for glasses (including lenses) and £35 for sunglasses.

I realy want to have laser eye sugery as would love to be able to wake up in the morning, open my eyes and SEE SOMETHING!!

I will look at saving after my iva is completed for this.

I get all my lenses from Costco and pay £10 for a contact lens check every year and £10 for a sight test every 2 years.
I use fortnightly dispossibles and will need to look out the price but they are way cheaper than in high street shops.

Also i wear them for a month instead of the 2 weeks which the optician says is ok and not a problem to do at all but as soon as I get any deposits on the lens to change to a new pair.

I rang the opticians today to order some new lenses (I can't find my prescription to order them online!) and I was told that my check up is due - more expense! I'm also having an eye test (which work will pay for thankfully) as it's due in a few months and I want it all at the same time. What's the betting I need new glasses?!?!?

I have just had new glasses as my lovely dog sat on my other and they were broken beyond repair. They were so old anyway and an out of date prescription.

My lovely mum treated me to new ones and I got nice ones from Costco[:)]

hi

a friend of mine has just had hers done and she is amazed that she can now wake up and see.
She had to go back a couple of times to have both eyes "tweaked" just to make them that little bit stronger but she says she wishes she had them done years ago.
Laser treatment isn't available for everyone though. They do a lot of different checks and you can be told at the last minute that for one reason or another that the treatment would not be able to be done.
Which to my mind is a good thing at least you know that they're not just out for the money.
Good luck when you start the process and fingers crossed you will be one of the successful ones.[:D]
