I have been advised by my bank to get an IVA but i have been told online i do not qualify because my disposable income and debts are too low and i have too few creditors. Am i going to get deeper and deeper into debt before i can do anything about it? I am on the verger of losing my home because of rent arrears and i cannot actually make a dint in my overdraft by paying what i can afford back because it is getting swallowed up by charges. I don't know what to do?

Hi hp
If you dont mond giving more details of your situation, debt amount, income and living costs then we will be able to advise.
There is always an answer so try not to worry it may not be an iva but there are other options.

Hello H.P,

As Aguise said if you could post more details this would be really helpful. Who are your creditors?

You said that you were on the verge of losing your home because you are in rent arrears. Are you renting? Or are you on a shared ownership scheme?

Hello and welcome to the forum HP

As the others have said please post some more details on your specific finances and we will be in a position to advise you of the solutions available to you.

Remember an IVA is just one way of dealing with debt difficulty. It may be that your personal circumstances warrant a different solution.

Hi hp

It would seem that a Debt Management Agreement might be a more appropriate way forward for you. I can recommend an excellent company to you called Brightoak who specialise in this type of work. Call 0800 0437 222 and ask to speak to either Andrew or Catherine. They are really nice people and should be able to advise you what to do.

Good luck - and just think this will be worth it in the long run.

Good evening hp,

Welcome to the forum.

The IVA is an extremely powerful tool enabling you to clear your debt and return to a clean financial bill of health.

It is essential that you provide us with as much information as possible.
It would be very useful if you could answer these questions;

1. How much is your debt? Is it joint ?
2. Are you employed?
3. Are you a homeowner?
4. Who are your creditors?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Julia
