Welcome to the Forum Les.h,

The first and best thing to know is that you are not alone, there are many many members on this forum who have been in the situation you are in right now.

Could you post more details regarding your debts, so we can then advise further. What is your total debt amount? What is your monthly disposable income? Who are your creditors?

In regards to your new bank account Co-Operative Bank seems like a good choice as they do provide a debit card with their basic bank account which is called a Cashminder Account.

The most important thing to remember is that your new bank account cannot be with any of your creditors AND it must not have any credit facilities attached eg overdraft etc.

Other lenders who provide debit cards with their basic accounts are:

- Bank of Scotland
- Halifax
- Natwest
- Yorkshire Bank
- Clydesdale

Hi Les.h
Try not to get so worried. The good thing is that you have accepted there is a problem and want to do something to put it right.
What is happening at work, are they aware of your situation?
Once you can post more about your circumstances I am sure one of the experts will be along with some sound advice. If you are thinking of an IVA but have not made your mind up, it is best to get the opinion of two/three advisors to make sure this is the right path for you. Read up as much as oyu can - there is loads of info on this forum; I am sure you will feel less worried by being more informed.
I am a HR specialist and so if there is any advice you want on the work front please do just ask.
Sharon

Would recommend the Co Op and they give you a VISA Electron card! You can access the account on the internet as well!

I would also suggest a Cash Plus Mastercard as well. It costs £4.95 per month and there is an initial charge of £9.99 but it is worthwhile!

Halifax do an Easycash account which comes with a VISA Electron card as well!

Hope it works out and happy safe banking!
