Hello

Recenetly i have started to go to Aldi shopping, i dont buy everything from Aldi such as baked beans, i still go to Asda for my heinz, but my typical shopping bill is about £100 a week, but if I buy what i can put up with from Aldi, which is about £30 worth and then buy the rest from ASDA which comes to another £40, total been £70.00 then i save £30 a week, admittley you need the time to do this, but i am lucky as i have a Aldi and Asda next door to each other.

PS - I use to have another job and one of mys customers grew potatoes for Aldi and Asda, i once asked the difference, he said nothing grown in the same field, just put in different bags, but asda charge more, and he told me this happens alot with other suppliers.

HI, I i can confirm with you about the potatoes ! My hubby works for a large potato factory ( on forklift) . Mostly they provide for Tescos. The cheaper tates are just in different packaging but are grown on the same field. Luckily for me he gets a free bag of tates per week for our family . So havent had to buy any for over a year.

i can tell you that the fuit an veg supplied to aldi is the same as supplied to sainsbury. my wife is currently in process of trying to become a manager for aldi and she asked the question at one of the interviews. was told they bought from same supplier. had our 1st visit to aldi recently and was pleasantly suprised

I (well hubby to be honest!) shop at Aldi and Lidl all the time as well! When my husband was serving with the Army in Germany, he used Aldi for everything - as over there they are as big as Tescos. The quality of the some of the product lines is far better than others, and with the sort of saving James is making, that could pay for a modest family holiday over the year.

I'm a very good shopper since being in an IVA. I shop at Aldi, Heron, Morrrison and several other supermarkets. I know prices in each too so know how to save a fair buck. It's my Saturday outing. Heinz Beans in Heron (if you have one near you) 39p per can!
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I have to be honest I've never been to Aldi - pop into Morrisons now and again, they have good offers on. Main shopping is done at Sainsbury's though as hubby is Manager so we get discount and we buy a lot of reductions.....maybe I'll convince him to go to Aldi's just to compare.

I must admit I do all my shopping at Sainsburys as if I spread mine around the shops I'd be driving all over the county as none of the supermarkets are close together!

Sainsburys is not somewhere I use at the moment, I find them too expensive. I love their food, but my local one never seems to have much in the way of reductions, and what they do have is stuff none of us like.

We use Asda as daughter works there so we get discount, use our local Tesco just for top up shopping as it is only 1/2 mile away.

We buy Branston Beans though - won't buy anything from Heinz on principle since they shut the Birmingham HP factory.

Ooh Kallis, my nephew has just started work for asda, it's just part time while he's at uni, I wonder whether we could use his discount....I might look into that. I did not know about the potatoes etc being grown in the same field! X

Your nephew will only be able to have one signatory on his card other than himself. When you get to the checkouts, they sometimes ask you to sign and check the signature on the back. If he lets anyone use his card that is not authorised, it's istant dismissal for them.

If he doesn't put either of his parents down, then he could put your name on.

Of course you could always drag him round with you when you do a shop!!!!!!!!!!!

We'll really miss it when she starts proper work next year after Uni. I use it more than she does!

I have shopped at Aldi for about 8 years now - I can extol the virtues enough (why am I in debt then you may ask!!! I often ask myself that question.Like Melanie said the quality is usually better than other places and cheaper. Interesting though I have noticed even at Aldi the prices are going up every week but still cheaper and better than mainstream supermarkets.
