Am I being led down the garden path ? DFD states that closure will take 6 months.

Ok I'm hearing you.
Do you offer any suggestions I can put forward to Dfd in order to gain an earlier closure. Also why do they say it takes 6 months to close. Could it be the fact that they are over committed hence creating a backlog of work. So just to fob us off they are creating their own 6 months closure period.
I don't know - I can only assume its a standard estimate to cover all bases if they are dilatory for come reason. It really should only take a month or two and that's if they have to send a standard notice to your creditors who haven't claimed. If all claims are in then they should be able to close within say 2 weeks...

I don't want to harp on about this deed of assignment that we are asked to sign.
But after reading it I fully get what it's about it basically means we are signing the agreement which entitles DFD the right to persue PPi and pass it onto our creditors now and after the Iva has ended. But it has come to my attention that there is no end date on this form. So does that mean that we could be tied to this agreement for let's say. One year or even twenty year or even indefinatley. ?

Don't overthink it - the flaws work in your favour.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

Indefinitely by the sounds of it but there will come a day when your IP needs to get the case off their shelf and move on...

So although we have the option to agree or disagree with the deed of assignment and we decide to disagree with the changes and our Iva is in the closures dept. Surely that's more or less the end of my Iva. Albeit I don't have the certificate of completion. That's what I want to know. ?

Yes it should be unless you receive a windfall in the period before your CC arrives on the doorstep.

Ok I'm going to return the deed of assignment with a disagreement to any changes. Based upon a family member paying a full & final offer which was accepted. And I shall await 6 months Max. Based the information told to us. Which was nothing is going to stop the closure of the Iva. And we were also told the maximum time Dfd are allowed is 6 months. And if I was to win the lottery or get a windfall I would inform them. Thanks all. I will report back with any information I get between now and the Certificate. Which I will be submitting in writing requesting the progress of the closure every month. Merry Christmas everyone.

Hello Everyone.
I can today confirm since being in contact with Laura from DFD.

We have received an electronic copy (Email) of our Certificate Of Completion. The Hard copy has been posted to us. So since the 03/12/2015 of Laura contacting me on here to assist in the closure of our Iva. It has now finally ended after we offered a Full & final Payment. So that's it we're free of debt. Absolutely Delighted so i thought i would share this with you all. Special thanks to Lisa Thomas We are most grateful to you Lisa for the time you spend on this Forum and you have always seemed to be there to offer advice in your knowledge of Iva's ( I would recommend you to take control of an iva for anyone who needed one) Based on the assistance and as i say the knowledge you have shown.

I would also like to thank Laura Harrop of DFD who has been in contact with us everytime we asked about the closure progress. ( I think she's got Grey Hair and aged very much after dealing with us) Thank you Laura.

So to sum up.
An Iva is a very good way to get free from spiraling debts and there is a light on at the end of the tunnel albeit ours was turned off for a while but in the end it is very bright and we have come out smelling of roses..

Although an Iva is a very good way to get out of debt it is worth getting advice before you make the decision to go ahead. There is a lot of things to consider. Make sure you ask lots of questions even down to your home (If you have one) Lisa Thomas is your answer she is on this Forum should you be considering an IVA.

Thank you for an excellent friendly forum which has assisted me and my family in this pressured time of being in debt. Thank you Iva.co.uk. & Thank you to all who have shared your knowledge and iva experiences..

I'm signing off now and will be leaving you all for a new move forward..

Goodbye Everyone.
Thank you.
