Holidays !!!! What's one of those LOL. We have been married 20 years and have only ever had three holidays, the last one being to butlins with our daughter.
We expect that we won't have them anyway, and anything we do during the iva will be saved for from any extra bits of money from wages or housekeeping.
Sports, Hobbies and Entertainment are a standard CCCS allowable expense, but unfortunately holiday savings are not allowed, although most of my clients manage to take a short, inexpensive break during the summer.
I wonder how many of us of a certain age (in our 40s and 50s) actually remember going on a paid package holiday with our families. I guess not many - a few days at Skegness was the norm for my folks - and I don't think it did us any harm. We tended to visit relatives during school holidays - made easier in my case as my Mum is one of twelve children, so there way plenty of choice, but it was inexpensive to do and much fun.
My holidays as a child were either spent in a boarding house in Weymouth for a week, or with my relatives who lived in Somerset and Suffolk.
I loved them!
We did manage to go away last year courtesy of daughter, but it had been four years since our last holiday and I don't suppose we will be going again anytime soon!

When I was a child we always had holidays in the uk, and they were the best. And even now, we don't go abroad. Though we are planning a trip to EuroDisney once we have completed the IVA, x
Its now time to start living and to make some some wonderful memories!
Read my blog at http://flow13.blogs.iva.co.uk/ 'Aiming for the finish line'
Holidays were on an IVA providers financial report.
All of those things on the list I accumilates from 5 Financial statements from various banks, mortgage company's, CAB and Debtmatters.
I just did my own list so I didn't miss anything. The haircut and dry cleaning one was a biggy. How many of us miss those little gems?
I actually have a £270 a month HP that was allowed by IP for a car to get to work... it will get paid off sharpish once IVE is ended.

We managed a trip to Thomasland (Drayton Manor) last year courtesy of my parents, siblings etc. Whatever they would normally spend on us for birthdays etc we asked if they would contribute to this. My little boy is Thomas the Tank Engine MAD!!!
I saved my Tesco clubcard vouchers and converted it to park tickets and we stayed in Premier Inn. We even took public transport lol, I would normally do hire car.
So again if we wanted to do something similar I will be asking my family to contribute - it meant so much to see my little boys face light up.
My allowanaces don't give me anything close to the above, i don't get:
Holiday, Haircuts, House Insurance, Sky, Pension (that came from a payrise 12 months in), Life insurance, Pet Insurance, meals for work, dry cleaning or entertainment.
If i want anything, it means a couple of nights with beans on toast. Or as in the case for my holiday, one of my prized mountain bikes had to be sold, along with half my worthy goods! on good old ebay, thats the only way i can afford a holiday in the sun in feburary! yep feb i will be sat on the beach in 28 degree's! can't wait!
As for holidays as a kid, weymouth and a tent was the best we had, and i loved every minute, even during my IVA ive taken my other half for a few days by the sea and the tent, she saye's she prefers the plane, and proper beach, but she did enjoy the Weymouth trips we have had.
Holiday allowance won't be allowed in an IVA, although they are allowed in BR.
I always make sure that my clothes are washable - can't be doing with dry cleaning!

No, sorry don't agree.
An IVA doesn't mean you live a poverished life. Don't forget you are not totally to blame for your debt. the creditors had their responsibility too. Don't think you should live badly for 6 years..
If your work requires you to look good, dry clean clothes, do your nails and get a decent hair cut!
If you are out of clothes go out and buy something that will at least last!

I disagree - I did not have to take out the loans, indeed I do remember begging Direct Line to let me take out a further loan.
We always took out credit with the intention of paying it back.
You can get decent clothes that can be washed and you don't need to get your nails done (with apologies to Cath who is a nail technician!)

Im Lucky in one respect that i work for tesco and the uniform is provided, although currently we have to pay for any replacements due ran out of budget for the year, generally i always check the label, i just forgot to on this one occassion. Dry cleaning wise, i have nothing that requires that except my works jacket but i rarely wear it as i have a fleece and a jacket gets in the way when im trying to fill melons or loaves of bread or something.
I have a works shirt and a fleece which can both be washed.
Daughter works for Asda and she has just had to replace work trousers and petty cash paid for those.
