Fingers crossed you can get something sorted out - let us know how you get on.

I would also make sure it's in writing as well as ringing them.
Trouble is when HMRC took over CHB they wrote special recovery laws. Dreadful when you think they are dealing with family benefits.
Good luck with an extension period to pay back. Why not go through there complaints process? The only problem is it can take 30+ working days (yes 6 weeks) for a response.
The road is 72months long starting September 2010.
We have had the same thing happen to us. For the award period 2010, we have been over paid a huge amount. Fault on both sides again and I am just waiting to hear how much they want off of us a month! Im dreading it!!
Also we have not started an iva so once we have looked into which company to go with i will be asking if this can be included in our iva. We are also only entitiled to £10 a week now and i have a feeling they will be wanting £200 + a month in repayments!
There is no way we will be able to afford it as well as paying our debts!
Just gets worse!
Spoke to CTC this morning, I have to put in a letter of complaint but lower monthly contributions as an option has already been declined.
So I then spoke to GT, who have agreed to lower our payments by 15% as of Sept, I didn't really want to go this route as we will have longer to pay afterwards but I'll try to make up the difference through overtime etc. But they were very quick and helpful.
I'm glad you have something sorted, even if it's not exactly what you wanted.
