They do not generally contact creditors until you have signed the draft proposal. However, with covid procedures they could go ahead without a physical signature, but with a digital agreement from you.

If your grandmother can help you then you could always offer a full and final straight off and clear your debts that way. Depends on how much you owe and how much your grandmother might be able to give you.

I would drop McCD an email, out of courtesy, to put a hold on proceedings for now. Then they will not be doing any more work that they are unlikely to be paid for in the event that your grandmother can assist.
