I had an IVA sorted out by a well known debt management company. I have since left the company after finding out they did not stop the interest from growing on one of my debt. I now own over a 2 year period £5000 more than I first started with. Have I any chance of recouping this money from the company. I now deal with the companies I owe to myself and after 11 years still owe £23000 clearly this idea of a 3-5 year plan did not work for me.

Hello vehico,

I really don't think that you can have been in an IVA because by law creditors are not entitled to charge further interest and charges after it has commenced.

Are you sure that you were in an IVA or do you mean a debt management plan? And if you were in a DMP I think that you will find that the DMP's terms and conditions are very tight and that they do not guarantee that interest will cease. This is a traditional weakness of DMP's as compared to IVA's and I'm afraid that the chances of you getting a refund from the DM company would be slim, at best
