Long shot but...does anyone know of any delivery driving jobs in the Bedfordshire area...hubby needs to have a change of job asap and having been in the one field of work for over 30 years it is proving difficult to find something...looking for part time or full time work for him...needs to earn minimum of £15,000 a year.....any reasonable suggestions gratefully received ! I have already applied to the supermarket for their online deliveries and some of the local courier companies.....
Anyone out there got a job he can have ????

He wants to leave his job but I have huge concerns ...don't want to go back to living life as frugally as in an IVA and it opening up a can of possible future debt...so need to be realistic....

Lesley - you know how quiet he is until he gets to know you...his confidence is at rock bottom ! He has a well paid job now but is so desparate to get out and do something different his health is beginning to suffer...he is used to being outside in all weathers and although he has a team of staff now he hates the line management responsibility...he wants to go it alone as a handyman and odd jobs etc but I am nervous about this ....just don't want to go back to pre IVA ways...it scares me !

I would be wary about the handyman route at the moment - hubby is a self employed handyman and if it wasn't for my Mum deciding to have her house decorated from top to bottom her would really be struggling as he's just not getting the work any more. My MIL has helped us out quite a lot as well so it's quite worrying.

I'm not saying don't do it (obviously I don't know what work there is for a handyman in your area) but just be careful x

I'm not in your area but if it helps when Hubby has wanted a driving job in past we've printed off about a 100 cover letters and CV's and posted them off to every company we could think of in the yellow pages.... so far its always got him a couple of interviews and always at least one job offer. Good luck x

What about a security guard? I don't mean doing door work but like in Sainsbury or something. Need his SIA badge but might be an investment. Or security at a factory gate. My son just started his own business (although he does doors) and he's already got so many contracts. My hubby is going to invest as his Mum is paying for his 50th birthday to help son out some weekends with factory security, extra money for us too.

I'm messaged you with my son's FB page and website (website created by my eldest son). Nothing in your area at the moment but might be worth registering with him when/if he gets his badge.

Thanks Julie... Got rejection from Sainsbury delivery job today...still got others outstanding but so few employers appear to contact you these days! He still has a job so not too worried at the moment...he hates it and wants to change but knows we have to wait for something to come up .... i can't and won't go back to scrimping and saving every penny ...
