I am currently in an IVA, and first direct have just withdrawn my banking facilities, so all my ususal direct debits etc are now coming from my wifes First direct account, my salary is now being paid in there - is there any reason for first direct to withdraw her banking

Some banks do take this decision when people enter into IVA's or Trust Deed's as they see you as a risk. If you are ok with using your wife's account, that shouldn't be a problem. If you do need an account for yourself, there are still many bank's that will entertain you.

Hi the Yorkshire bank offer a good basic account with a maestro debit card. it is simple to setup and no credit checks are done. You can also use it for the usual facilities etc. no overdraft but then im sure like me you dont want one.

I bet you when First Direct cotton on to the fact that you are now using your wife's account, they will make attempts to close her account too. I suggest you apply for a Halifax Eash Cash account (Visa Electron) or Co-Op Smile Account -VISA debit card and cheque - both of which I got approved when IVA in existance and had no problems with them.
