I know that my IP has written to my creditors and I have sent a letter to them, which my IP recommended, but they all deny receiving the letters! (all but Northern Rock who acknowledged the letter). I came home from work today to find a "telegram" which was a blank piece of paper asking me to call an 0870 number and quote a reference - I called and it was Citibank. I am not going to waste anymore phone calls or stamps on my creditors as I think they are just playing the game of trying to squeeze every last penny from me and increase my phone bill!

Has anyone had any of these "telegrams"?

HI SUZANNE!

I THINK YOU HAVE GOT THE RIGHT IDEA, I WOULD NOT WASTE ANY MORE LETTERS OR PHONE CALLS ON THEM. IF THEY PHONED ME AT HOME I ANSWERED, BUT I NEVER RETURNED ANY CALLS! OUR IVA STILL GOT ACCEPTED REGARDLESS!

That's a new one on me!

I would not worry about the fact that they deny receiving the letters. You are obviously on the way to an IVA and that is the main thing.

I did not answer any phone calls at all until after we had been accepted.

If you should feel the need to phone and it is an 0870 number, go to Saynoto0870 and it should give you a geographic number (much cheaper!)

It's funny as we always think it's us that't in denial over our finances, but it's amazing how many creditors deny receiving these letters or phones calls!!!
Many of mine still denied it even when the IVA was accepted.
I used to have many a message on my answer phone, which I gladly pressed the delete key on!!

The call centre operators probably won't have been told about it - that way they can try and bully us into paying money over!

Thanks guys for the replies. I thought it strange that out of our 10 or so creditors only one had received the letter - the one that matters the most - Northern Rock! I will also be hitting that delete key. Thank God I don't give out my mobile number because I don't think these people take a break - 8.25am the calls started on Sunday! We should get notice of our meeting in a couple of weeks. Thanks again

Hi There,
Ignore them - I had several companies who used terrible bully tactics and aia got quite scared. Do't take the calls and when they phone remind them you have written and are going for a debt solution. Most will be reasonable - not all - and say they will leave you alone for 1, 3 weeks or longer. Chin up you will get through this and we can help we will. (I don't know much but am learing lots from the experienced people onj here.)
Hugs,
Chardonnay

If she did get one from Citibank on her 100th, it would a record - longest IVA on record!

Yep, got a long way to go yet, most likely King William will send me mine if we are both still around as he will be approaching his 85 birthday himself lol

I had something like a telegram, just one line along the middle.

Dear my name. stop

It read; Its in your best interest to call this number immediately. stop.

I wasnt even slightly tempted to call. Nor do I think it was in my best interest.
