Thanks kenty -

Your post makes a lot of sense and made me smile - I shall stick to lemonade shandy when I am bidding!!!!

I was just a bit annoyed with my first purchase because the guy / lady selling the item made a big thing on the screen where they are selling stuff that they are a great seller... reliable....quick delivery... blah blah blah - and then nearly a week after my purchase they tell me they will send my CD out next week!!! Can definitely feel some "negative" feedback coming on!!!

Thanks again for your post!!!

Optimist, the feedback system changed a while ago from just leaving a straight positive, negative or neutral to leaving more detailed feedback on
1 - accuracy of item listing
2 - communication from seller
3 - time for delivery
4 - Postage and packaging charges
You leave a 1-5 star rating on each of the above and can still leave a personal feedback message.
I am glad they have changed this as sometimes it can feel harsh to leave a negative for one aspect of the service they have provided when the overall experience has been positive.

The one thing that really irritates me with SOME sellers is that they charge an excessive amount for Postage and Packing. If I am selling anything I weigh it on kitchen scales and have a leaflet from post office with charges relating to weight of parcel and then I just add the cost of any packaging materials. Some sellers try to recoup listing/paypal charges trough the P&P charge which is really unfiar in my opinion.

I always check the selling feedback left by others before I buy from a seller and if I am not happy I don't bid[:)]

Have fun - it sounds like ou are already

Thanks for that information emma. I suppose I better wait until my stuff actually arrives before I think about posting feedback!!

I will only ever buy small items so whatever happens it wont be the end of the world!! Will keep an eye on the postage and packing in future. So far it was £1.75 on my first CD purchase and £1.25 on the second - not big money but quite a difference.

Its all very interesting.

Its the postage that puts me off with a lot of things, you know it wont cost that much and they stop people buying because of it. Optimist, cd's are cheap on amazon and also woolworths website quite often have loads reduced down to silly prices. Hubby is always buying them, wish I hadnt shown him how to do it.

Does this seem strange to anyone else??

I was selling my mobile on ebay and one of the bidders asked me if i would send the phone to Pakistan!! The bidder was in America! I told him NO and said about P&P but he said would pay the extra. I still declined the bid, but does anyone think thats strange and definetly not normal!! I was worried about terrorism and my old contract mobile or am I being a Drama Queen as per!![:I]

This is a scam Angela. I'm not sure how it works, but you'll send the phone and then find there's a problem with the payment.

I am looking for a table lamp to match the one I already have and I was really pleased when I saw one on Ebay starting at 99p - that was until I saw the P & P price of £20! It's not that big or heavy, so it was definitely over the top.

Angela18 - did you sell your phone for more than £10, if you had re-cycled it through tesco, they would give you 1000 clubcard points - £10 of your next lot of shopping.

Yeah I got £31 incl p&p. which I thought was a good deal,[;)] not as good as Osama Bin Laden was offering but hey I can sleep with a clear conscience!![:o)]

I shop at Asda, always thought Tesco was expensive, but reading this forum I may give Tesco a whirl!! My brother in law is a manager within Tescos but he hasn't offered me a discount Baa Humbug!!

One of my good friends works for John Lewis and they get a really good discount scheme, but if they find out she is buying for anyone else it is a sackable offence.
She is allowed to buy gifts for people but not buy things on other peoples behalf.

Never ask her to get things as worried she would get into trouble..

I have just found out that buyers get feedback too!!! I am the lucky recipient of 100% positive feedback from my two purchases!!!

Mind you - I suppose as long as you pay the money over - a buyer could hardly receive negative feedback!!!!

oooh i love ebay. i've sold lots of stuff on there. not lately though i've ran out of things to sell. think i'll auction my hubby off. don't think i'll get much.lol
i love it when someone bids on something i'm selling i get excited, even it its only 99p. people must get addicted to bidding to win cos i've sold board games that have been sat under my bed for months and they've sold for more than wot i've bought them for. people are mental.
my friend buys boxes from auctions for about £15 she never really knows whats in them cos she only gets a glimpe but she makes loads on them. i've known her make over £200 on a box of tat that shes bought for £15. well worth doing if you know what to look for. she gave up her job and now runs a shop on ebay cos she makes more money.
my tip is raid your cupboards and under the bed you'd be suprised what people buy.
its really good to pick up bargains too. my sisters getting married in 2 weeks and for my wedding she really spoilt me. so i felt really guilty that i couldn't afford to do the same for her. so i trailed ebay for gift ideas and got her lovely wedding gift that kind of covers all the something new something blue and it was really cheap. sounds awful to say cheap but i just can't afford it so i'm hoping its the sentimental value of the gift that will count.
