Sounds promising Julie, give him a Bonio(stop sniggering at the back!) from the forum.
If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.

I'm not a sniggerer -- I am a titterer.

I have always wanted to be the titter that runs round the crowd [:0]

When we were faced with the bad news a month ago, I promised Dobby a new brother if he would just stay with us. I'd sell my soul to the devil for my boy [}:)]

Reality is, I'm not sure how my boy would cope with another dog - he tolerates the cats( or rather, they tolerate him), but is introducing another dog asking too much??

Any advice?

That's a tricky one Julie, could easily go one way or the other. Try 'borrowing' a friends dog to test the water.
Have a word with Leslie, I'm sure she is our resident canine specialist.

Thanks Andy - we've had daughters dog and Dobby got quite jealous at times! Yet he socialises with other dobermanns every day on our walks and watching them play together is magical!

I will talk to Lesley as she has superb knowledge on dogs.

I often wonder if dogs know what breed they are, and if they meet another same breed do they know!!!

I'm sure they do! Dobby is fine with most dogs ( doesn't like huskys)but when he meets another dobermann it's a joy to watch.

We 'aquired' a Husky(long story). When I compare her to Charlie the English Bull Terrier we had there is no comparison, I loved Charlie but just can't take to Tatuu at all, maybe it's to do with the circumstances she arrived at our house.

Julie you said in your post you had your daughters dog and Dobby became jealous, was that in your house or in her house as either way you're in the others doman. Out and about they'd all be equal not protecting their domain. I do believe Dobby would be fine eventually, this can sometimes be a slow process and once they got the hierarchy sorted they can live happily alongside each other. They're pack animals at the end of the day and someone will have to be at the head of the pack. (bit like me being the boss of my hubby). Introduce slowly and at bedtime for a little while keep separate even by the use of a crate would be a good idea but I've found it doesn't take long and I'm sure then all would be fine.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Thank you Lesley [:)] The jealousy was at our house and was only when our visitor decided to jump on hubby's lap - a big no no for Dobby!

I do think Dobby will enjoy having another dog around..eventually! He really is a sociable boy and it's a shame the cats don't appreciate his attempts at play [:D]

We're taking him on his first holiday on Monday.A month ago, we feared the worse now we can't wait to get away with the boy!
