Just wanted to let you all know that we have just had our IVA approved in just under 4 weeks since taking that first step and actually talking to someone about our problems. I was worried to start with it was all going too quick but decided to "go with the flow" and don't regret doing so now. My only regret is not having done it years ago instead of being too proud to admit that we were struggling. Hopefully now as others have said we can start to put this all behind us and never again get into the spiral of debt.

To all those who are too proud to admit they are struggling - please please don't put it off any longer. Pick the phone up and take that step! I don't think I would have found the courage to do it without finding this forum and finding out that we weren't alone - far from it! So a big thankyou to all who post here you really are an inspiration!

I'm off to buy the wife a big bunch of flowers 'coz its the least she deserves after putting up with me being so stressed!!

Thankyou!
John G

Brilliant news John - congrats!

That is a short time as well, I think ours was 8 weeks.[:)]

Ours was four weeks too. We had our meeting on April 4 and our IVA agreed on May 1.

I know we were really lucky but I think having an IP that was only 8 miles away helped as we could just pick up docs that needed signing rather than having to rely on snail mail!

what good news....ours took nearly three months but i think that was because i am self employed and its a bit more complicated and "clearstart" took all details but then referred us so we had to do a lot of stuff again...but 4 weeks must be a record...who is your IP???
IVA completed 11th Dec 2009 due to a Full and Final with the fantastic help of Michael Peoples and

we used a company called MoneyDebt & Credit based in Watford who are miles away from us but they arranged for a rep to come out to see us and pick up all the forms and other bits and pieces. I wasn't sure about them at first because they seemed a bit too keen to start with but everything has gone really smoothly. Because it went through so quick we've not had the hassle that some have had of creditors chasing them, the only one we had was from Barclaycard saying that they understood we were going for an iva so they wouldn't hassle us for 14 days pending it being sorted although charges would still be applied on the account. Compared to some it feels like we've got away lightly! Would definitely recommend them.
