My IVA finished in November 2014. A few months ago my employer asked me to pick up a controlled function and become an Approved Person. My employer knew my history as I was in the IVA when I joined them. I was pretty nervous as although HR knew I had to disclose my IVA to colleagues who handled the application process. I am a very private person so found this embarrassing.
Anyway the point of my post is to say its all approved. I fully disclosed everything and sent my completion certificate. The FCA did ask some questions including lessons learnt. I know cases will be individual but wanted to give some hope as I couldn't find any info whilst waiting for my application to be assessed.
Glad it worked out. At the end of the day you had a problem and, rather than burying your head in the sand, you dealt with it responsibly and came out the other side more financially aware. I am sure some of those handling your application are probably feeling financial strains and getting deeper into problems .... "There but for the Grace of God", as they say ... and I am sure other faiths have an equivalent mantra.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
Nice that you have such a supportive employer and your experience will certainly be of help to others whether here or in your role. You certainly will be more empathetic to those who have problems, financial or otherwise and very best of luck with the new position. Congratulations.
