What an appalling practice - and one which I feel should be reported to the Financial Ombudsman. Another time and your poor hubby could be left absolutely stranded.

This has happened more than once to me so I don't use ASDA anymore...Tesco however still seem to keep hold of the £2 charge for at least 3-4 days after my groceries have been delivered for some reason. Not anywhere near the same degree of inconvenience though is it?

ASDA ought to know these days that most people, IVA or not, are struggling to pay for their groceries on top of petrol, electricity and gas, council tax, water rates etc etc. To randomly charge them twice albeit only for 10 days is akin to financial sabotage.

I have never used Asda home delivery, I have used Tesco though especiaslly when they have there promotions on Beer as with having scooters we cannot carry loads of packs back. I have noticed Tesco take a couple of pound but that is normally OK, my Dentist practice does the same thing, they take £2.45. I think it is to provide proof the account is active so they know they are goibng to get their money.

I've never had anyone do this to me at all. I pay by debit card at my dentist and they don't put anything extra on.

We had the same with Asda our first Xmas into the IVA. We had ordered our whole big Xmas shop, about £200. Asda didn't deliver the shopping because of icy roads, didn't tell us they couldn't deliver it until we phoned to find out where it was the next day but had taken the money out of our account, said they couldn't deliver it and the money would be back in account in 10 days time. It was two days before Xmas and we had no other money. We kicked up such a stink and my husband even burst in to tears on the phone to Asda as we were so stuffed with nothing for Xmas. In the end they left £200 vouchers at the Asda desk for us to collect and cone in and do our shopping. I had to take holiday from work to go in and do the shopping in time. We have never used them again. They take the money before they online shoppers do the picking whereas Saindburys and Tescos don't take it until after and it's ready for delivery. I think it's disgusting.

I believe it's already known to Watchdog and Which? Consumer Action, Co-op themselves are still trying to do something about it as they don't agree with the practise - but I think being able to remove it at their end if you phone them is something fairly new they have been given the authority to do. I still haven't drafted my letter of complaint, I'm trying to think of what to say without half of it being expletives! I believe some others who have complained were offered - a £10 online voucher. Like you're going to go through all that again! Insulting.

After reading all this I'm glad I don't have to do online shopping, some people rely on this service, some people are housebound through illness/disability. Maybe they live out in the country and can't rely on public transport, disgraceful way to treat customers.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Regarding hygiene ive seen deliveriees from supermarkets up my road, and frequently seen the driver place thin shopping carrier bags on the road side, before delivering.I will take my chance with shopping trollies.

Here's a little fact that makes online shopping a little more apealling :

In a recent study it was discovered that the handles on shopping trollies contained more bacteria than the supermarkets toilets: 72% had faecal bacteria and half had traces of E.coli!
Oh yes I heard this ages ago and always have a handy pack of wet wipes in my bag!! When I see little babes wiping their snotty noses on the handles if makes me waht to chuck up!!

Another thing that really bugs me is when parents let their children stand in the trolleys! Don't they think I might not want to put my shopping where their little darling's feet have been?!?!
