hiya all
i am with dfd and have started to struggle with my payments hence i have asked for a variation meeting. i currently pay £510 per month on an original debt of 41k.
what i would like to know is if my payments were reduced, would the term of my iva be extended?
the reason i have given dfd for my struggling is because my girlfriend has moved to another part of the country where i would struggle to find work and my petrol consumption has virtually doubled due to visiting her once a week(my allowance is £220 at the moment) and also £140 per month allowance for food and clothing which i spend usually £50 per week on food alone and not premium supermarket ranges either! lol
many thanks
rt

Hi RT
From my experience, creditors would, in all likelihood ask for the IVA to be extended to 6 years. Many IP's already incorporate this into their variations proposal rather then waiting for creditors to ask for it.

If you want to discuss this further, you can call our customer care team. They will be happy to answer any questions you have.
Thanks

Given that your change of circumstances is not enforced, I think that Declan is right in preparing you for the IVA to be extended - thereby showing creditors that you remain committed to giving them the very best deal.
