I've Just had a phone call from Halifax one of my loans I have on my Iva Proposal.. They asked me to pay for a payment I owe them.. But I told them that Im going through an Iva and the proposal should have been sent to them.. I gave them my ref etc.. But they have said they have not recieved it yet.. But I have been told by my ip that it has been sent.. Maybe it has not been processed on their computer yet? Anyway they have given me 10 days for the proposal to arrive, Or they said i will have to pay.. Which i just cannot afford to do..

Any advice??

Clive

Hi Clive.
Dont worry these calls are quite normal you have done correctly, just say you are in the process of proposing an iva and cannot make any payment. Dont pay anything they will try their hardest but if you have been advised by your company to stop paying dont pay. It could be seen as favouring one creditor over the others. Dont worry regardless of what they say some can be quite aggressive. Any worry speak to your company and get their advice.

Sometimes the left hand doesn't talk to the right hand in these companies, Clive, and if your IP has told you that your proposal has been issued to creditors you have nothing to worry about. If the proposal has been issued to your creditors, you should have received a copy telling you when the creditors meeting is going to be held.

Hi Melanie yes i have recieved a copy about when my meeting is going to be.. Very soon.. The 29th of this month.. Im am soo worried about it.. Keep on counting down the days.. Its even worse as im off work with a burnt hand at the moment.. Burnt it cooking as a chef at work.. Hurts :-( lol But because im injured as such.. it gives you more time to think about it.. instead of if your at work you are keeping busy occupying you mind as such.. Could i ask you a question Melanie??

Basicly my main creditor is barclays.. Which i had loans with 4 in total.. Do they usaully approve of iva`s??

Barclays are a very supportive creditor Clive generally, so you should be fine on 29th April. Make sure you let us know the outcome as soon as you can!

hi clive

try not to let the calls get to you

me and hubby can have up to five calls a day - they start dead on 8 am even on sundays - just be polite and firm advise you are applying to enter iva, mercers are threatening me with doorstep collection, most of it is to try to frighten you in to making a payment

try to stay strong hun - a lot of it is tryin to wear u down so u make a payment - i dont make any payments to them

keep yer chin up it will all be sorted

I was getting a lot of phone calls as well. They started out nice then turned nastier each time I told them I was going through an IVA and couldn't afford to pay them anything. It got so as I hated the phone and either wouldn't answer it or just took it off the hook. I finally called BT and they changed my number within 24 hours and I'm now ex directory. Now I don't feel sick everytime the phone rings.
This might help you as well.
