Andy, I was confused too and specifically asked them if they had a flexi, basic account where credit scoring was not required. The assistant did'nt know and give her her due, she went away to ask others who also didn't know. So never mind Forum members being confused - Nationwide themselves are confused. All of course that is except the computer. "Computer says NO"
Regards
Bob

Hi Bob
You could probably go in tomorrow and the computer will say "yes" as long as they press the right buttons.
Never mind

I am with the abbey, its wasnt a problem, they dont do credit checks, I have a cash card, direct debits and standing orders. They dont charge for using the account.

The only thing i cant do is take cash out over the counter, but with the cashh card you get up to £300 a day out of the machine

Thanks James.
I telephoned the Abbey and explained the situation from the start. I was told not to bother. Were you in IVA at the time you opened the account and did you open a personal or business a/c with Abbey?
Regards
Bob

It was just before I was in IVA, when I was advised by an IP to get a new account. I walked in and told them that I was entering an IVA, and they said they would give me an account, but only a basic account as they would not need to do any credit checks, and if i ran my account ok for 12 months then they would consider giving me a debit card, it was a personal account
