Because they have a trend of closing down accounts when they find out that their customers are subject to IVA proceedings - whether you owe them any money or not.

Hi Steve

They search the "on-line" IVA register and compare this to customer records. You would think that they had better things to do, wouldn't you!

Yes I know the firm resolvuk - I think it is run by a chap called Wally Stone who I used to know quite well. Did you see them advertising in the Soldier magazine? They class themselves as H M Forces specialists, but then there are a lot of IPs who work with serving and ex-forces personnel.

They are not actual IPs themselves, but will undoubtedly refer your case to a firm called McCambridge Duffy who are based in Londonderry in Northern Ireland. Have you commenced your IVA yet?

I'll let you into a little secret shall I. I was the insolvency practitioner at McCambridge Duffy for a short while in their early days of IVA processing. I left for personal reasons and to branch out on my own in 2002, but I hope a lot of the practices I put into place have remained behind.

Good luck with your creditors meeting.

I used McCambrdgeDuffy and got my IVA past first time. All i can say is when I was loosing it and screaming down the phone at them that I had court orders etc etc (ok not literally screaming but those that have been through this know what I mean) they told me very calmly at every phone call to not panic - usual creditor standard procedure - get the letters to them ASAP. You're scared I can tell you BUT they were right. They all came to nothing and the IVA was approved.

In hindsight I've learnt you need to rise above the tricks the creditors play in that you are doing the right thing and though ultimately they could send the bailiffs round (with a court order to enter your house) a court has to approve that.
