Baby Costs ?? where do I start

Well afftere discussions with my IP and helpful advice from Melanie - I am calmer and I am hoping top continue my IVA - If I can get it to add up and then with a variation meeting etc etc.

so a quick question(s) and I feel the smart answer will be "only you can tell how much you will spend" but here goes anyway...

OKay - how much should I allow for baby in the expenditure when they arrive?? For example do I take the cost of the pram and the cot etc and divide by 12? Nappies?? I have added £50 onto our food bill BUT in realtity it was undervalued by £50 to start with!!

Also have the daughters starting High School - so her costs will go up as well (uniform, school dinners, school trips and the like - also have to add her mobile which is a safety MUST HAVE) needless to say although her childcare needs have changed, for example - they have in effect gone up as the school holiday activity camps are now the norm ( as opposed to the everyday care - which will reduce somewhat- when the wife is home((not entirely though)).

Any advice greatly received - I will get thru this I know!!

Ouch!! just remebered my visa needs renewing - so can I claim the cost of that because if I don't do it I will get deported and then the IVA will fail!!

Great news on the baby!
We saved a fortune on buying second hand stuff from e-bay, and then sold stuff back on there once they'd outgrown things. (prams, cots, etc)
I just bought my nephew a "bundle" of clothes, all Next & Gap, 100 items, £30-all like new.
You need to go to your usual supermarket (or look on-line) at how much all the baby sundries cost (nappies, wipes, baby shampoo, food, etc) and work out what he/she will need. Also formula milk if mum not breast-feeding. Then you will have an idea how much more to add to your housekeeping costs.
Oh and don't forget extra washing, soap powder, electric, tumble drying. As I recall, new babies tend to be beautiful, but fairly messy!

Thanks BlueShoes - yes EBay and baby specialist charity shops will be high on the agenda. BUT somethings you just have to buy new (as little as possible).

I suppose I really need to know what an IP and creditors would see as reasonable

Make sure you have a really good think not just about the immediate needs also things like a stairgate and fireguard if needed, shoes every 6-8 weeks when they start needing them.
Anyway congrats to you both, i'm at the nanny stage now and its great.
