Hi all

I havent posted on here for ages, i am on my third year of my IVA and all is going well.

i think i am preggers..which i am terrifeid about...if i have hte baby will the IP still expect the same payment level? or will they reassess, i know i cant fall below a certain level it started at 346 and now i pay 620pcm, what with pay rises etc.

I am scared tha tif i have the baby the IP will take everything even child benefit. Also do they allow you to have ££ for childcare,as without i cant get back to work..

sorry for all the garbled questions iam just worried adn i even thought earlier maybe i wouldnt be able to contine the pregenancy due to £££

I dont dispute i have topay as much as poss back i just wonderhow it works if your circumstances change.

Firstly I would confirm whether you are expecting or not - and if so then you can chat with your IP about a reduction in payments to tide you over the maternity period.

Lots of people have babies whilst they are in IVAs, and most cope with the ongoing payments with the assistance of a short break. Child benefit and tax credits will be taken into account for the purposes of assissing your income.

Please don't even think about not having the baby - children are a blessing and great joy, and probably far more important than having a few debts.

I absolutley echo Melanie's advice. To be able to have a baby is a gift and no way should an IVA come in the way of you being blessed with a child.

I can understand your concerns, but there will be an solution.

Congratulations from me as well - I am sure you will be able to have your payments lowered. It looks as though the dividend is going to be far higher than it was when you started so your creditors should be sympathetic.

A baby needn't be too expensive.Second hand baby shops,eBay,Freecycle and family and friends are all places to get cheap/free baby bits and bobs.
Babies don't really need that much..you don't need a changing table when a towel on the floor works just as well for just one example.
My second child was a "whoops" and I was in denial the entire pregnancy. Needless to say I couldn't imagine life without her now, she is such a little character.
Completion Certificate received September 2012.

Hi lula please don't be upset, Your baby will bring you a lifetime of joy and happiness, this period of your life will soon be over and your IP i'm sure if you speak with them will help you all they can. Don't worry and be happy, take care and be safe.
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.

IVA COMPLETED August 2012, received Completion certificate 18.4.13.

Lula nothing to add to the above apart from my congratulations and talk to your IP, I'm sure you'll find they'll be sympathetic.

I have to say that I would never change a baby with just a towel on the floor! We had one of those changing mats. They're not expensive and at least if there is an accident your carpet won't be ruined!

I am a single mum of 2. My tax credits and child benefit are accounted for as income as is the maintainace from my ex husband but my child care costs (which i have to say are extortinate!!) are an expendditure.

If you are pregnant you may be entitled to help with child care costs thru the tax credit system...

By the time baby comes along you will be close to the 4 year point in your IVA and with maternity leave your IVA will be almost finished by the time you return to work.By the time you start having to buy shoes school uniforms etc you will be completly debt free.

there is lots of help out there, you just have to find it.

wish you all the best hun

You may find that by the time you get to that stage, your creditors will accept what you have already paid as a full and final.

Something to be considered when you get to that stage.

Oh Jan! you want to see me changing the twins, I can change them one handed on my knee! I've had to adapt really quickly and multi-task, tandem feed now too! never thought I would cope but I'm on a very steep learning curve! x

Not me Lesley! I used to take my time, but then I only had one.

I would still never use just a towel on the floor!
