I have got to find a new bank account , obviously it cannot be connected to any of my creditors but also I would like an online facility to keep track , has any one got any recomendations ? I have looked at the Choosing a bank account. I have previosly seen the Co-op mentioned but there are no branches nearby .....has anyone any idea?

Hi
Even though there is not a CO-OP branch nearby this may not be a problem as you can pay money into a co-op account in the post office and obviously draw money out at cashpoints. Accounts can be set up over the phone and it has internet banking also. Hope this helps

Hi Philip,

I know for certain that Lloyds Classic account and Nationwide Flex account both come with an internet banking facility, actually most basic bank accounts should still come with internet banking.

Best of Luck finding a bank account.

Also you could try Natwest Step account internet access and a maestro card!

I currently use Nationwide and Co-op. Both are fine online.

Also have account with HSBC (before I read about their antics), but they haven't closed it yet (guess I keep a low profile), but best avoided I suppose.

Was with Lloyds anyway...so that ruled them out.

Hi philip
Think banking will accept anyone no credit checks. Look at the managed ac ther is a charge but you get a maestro card and two accounts one for bills and debits, they keep that from your salary and the other is just your money, keeps you on track.

Thanks all , I am with Lloyds at the moment as that rules that out , I have this morning Applied for Nationwide Flex & Smile but both have been declined .

& to top it off Lloyds have taken my Credit card payment without authorisation from my account leaving not enough funds in there for my Rent , so I am really Desperate to get this sorted today

Sorry to hear that you have had no luck, you could also try basic accounts from Abbey, Barclays or Halifax. Keep persevering you will get one eventually!

Hi
Think Banking will accept you. They provide a debit card and online banking is promised soon.It costs £25 to set up and £12.50 per month. It,s money well spent.

Good evening,

Please open a bank account with no overdraft facility. Creditors will generally insist that you do not incur future credit which includes allowing your bank account to be overdrawn.

Kind regards,

Sorry - not sure what happened there.

I was saying that I got a phone call from First Direct yesterday giving me 30 days notice to find a new bank because HSBC will no longer deal with people that have IVA's and they want to become responsible lenders !!! Yup - still got a mortgage with them but I can't have a current account. Hypocrites !

Hi joh71262

They are parasites! nuf said I went to Abbey. I went into my local branch the other day and told the mangeress I have entered into an IVA and she said fine as your account is Basic and you told us on your application. No cheque book and no debit card. Hey wait for it ...no bank charges either! When I look back I still think my creditors were irresponsible in allowing such long lines of credit. Put it this way they gave it to me without me asking for it. Temptation is the devil and they are the devil! I have learnt my lesson... just politely say NO THANKS!

I have managed to get an account with Halifax BOS as well.

You just need to keep look for basic bank accounts!

Co Op is very good as well and you can get a form of credit card with My Cash Plus wichis a Master card as well!

Good Luck

Ray
