I had a Co-op cash minder basic account (very happy with it) throughout my IVA which finished earlier this year, but would like to upgrade to a “normal” account now that my credit report is all looking good. Am I best applying to another bank or asking my current bank to upgrade me?
I had a cashminder account ( two, in fact) and they were very happy to upgrade me to a normal account once my credit report had cleared -- in fact they also offered me a credit card at the same time !

Thanks for your helpful reply( as always!) Foggy.
Did you have to ask them? I’ve heard nothing from the Co-op since my IVA finished. I know it’s not important in the big scheme of things, but since my credit score is now pretty good, the basic bank account is a reminder of my past I’d like to forget.
I did ask them about the upgrade but they offered the CC out of the blue. It was all done in-branch -- I don't know it that makes a difference over any automated online process (computer says "No", but manager overrides).

Here’s another reason this forum is so helpful. I too have Coop cashminder and this answer from the ever helpful Foggy makes the onward journey from my (just completed) IVA easier. Thank you again Foggy.
Barclays and Nationwide are pretty good as well. I have full accounts and CC with both.
