I've been in an IVA for a year now and have so far managed it without a problem. Does anyone know of any banks that would allow me a debit card or cheque book and guarantee card? I think this would actually help people manage their tight budgets. As it is, if I now want to buy something that costs me £11, I have to draw out £20 with a cash card.

A number of the basic accounts have options for debit cards.

Who are you with at the moment ?

I was with the Woolwich but they've been taken over by Barclays - do you think there's any mileage in checking with Barclays?

Hi Jaykay,

Out of the basic accounts that I am aware of Lloyds Classic Account has a debit card and internet banking also the Halifax Easy Cash Account has an electron card with Visa. I hope this helps.

Hi
You will not be able to obtain a cheque guarantee card but as others have stated there are a few banks that offer a debit card, try the co-op cash minder account as they offer an electron card.
Think banking offer a debit card and will accept you but it costs £12.50 per month and a £25 set up fee

I have to say thanks to the advise on here I have opened a Think Banking account, they have been very very good, paper work sent out within days, calls to make sure the paper work arrive, another call to advise the paper work had been received by them and the Mastro card will be with me in a few days. It might cost £25 to set up and £12.50 a month but in my mind money well spent, as when my first wages go in (end of July) I know that the money on the cash card is mine to without having to worry about bills being paid as the money has already be put aside to cover the months bills.

In over my head looking for somewhere to turn
In and IVA and looking forward to the future

Glad you are pleased with the ac Hr i keep saying how good it is, but some dont like the charge and it does work well if you have debits etc. I am still pleased with the ac and have been with them 6 months. Always friendly and when the internet comes will be perfect.
