On the grand scheme of things this isn't a big issue but does anyone in an IVA have a bank account with a contactless card? I have a co op cashminder account for a few years which i was really happy with but the card is really an electron not visa debit and not contactless. Seems silly but i just wondered if anyone had managed to get an account with a more up to date card?
I pay alot into my accojnt and have run it realy well but no upgrade in sight (which i fully understand!) But if 14 year olds can have contactless cards why don't banks let basic accont holders have one?
I guess because banks make no money from Basic accounts they don't need to offer anything more than a basuc card!
Didnt really bother me until recently when ive had a few comments about using a "old card" when buying a coffee! Everyone seems to be usig apple pay ect, even kids!
I personally am not keen on contactless as it takes a few days to go out of your bank and catch up so to speak, I like a live balance as despite being out of the IVA now, I do tend to check my bank still a little too often at times. I agree it's quick and easy though.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
My Cashminder cards are not contactless -- but due to be renewed in November, so issued before it became "the thing". However, they ARE Visa Debits, not electron.

Must admit that I agree with Lesley - not happy with using contactless at all.
Always managed to keep a full account with Barclays during the IVA and even with the basic Nationwide account we could use the card at the pump.
I'll stick with the chip and pin I think (when I can remember the pin!!)

Kallis, I don't like the contactless cards either and carry ones I do have in a shielded wallet, or don't take them out unless I know I am going to need them. My fear is that, by making these smaller transactions so swift, easy and painless using contactless, I will, once again, lose contact with the fact that I am frittering away REAL money !

Too right! I have mine in my purse and they come out at the checkout. For smaller transactions I still use good old fashioned cash!!
