I emailed Smile and recieved one back today. Under an IVA they will only let me have an electron (whatever this is) card. No cheque book. I wonder why people are treated differently. Still haven't heard from RBS and still haven't managed to get another account up and running as working every day at the moment. Scared crunch time will come, but have little choice at the moment. A (Visa) Electron is basically like a debit card - but you will find that some places dont accept them. They are still very useful though.

I received confirmation that I can have the bank account without the overdraft so will look forward to having a cheque book again for school use.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I'm going with Melanie caraf, I've also sent a secure message asking for the £500 overdraft to be removed and in the message asked for confirmation that this has been done by email.

I have a mortgage account with cheque book and switch card. Also a bank account started with Nationwide as IVA was drawn up, with this account I have cheque book and debit card. My IP is satisfied with these as at my last Annual Review i sent him Bank statements which indicated I am issuing cheques for some bills. Having said that most my banking is done on the internet or direct debits.

...I think my IP said/chairman's report said that I could have a cheque book account. However, it won't be up to them? I assume it's up t the actual bank.I've not heard anyhting either way as yet. Does anyone else here bank with RBS?
