iwas adviced to open new bank account before i entered into my iva which i did with the halifax i was adviced not to tell them about impending iva so didnt, iva was approved last week, now im worried halifax will close my account when they find out, its a current account with no overdraft or cheque book, has anyone else had a good or bad experience with them.

Hi hallway

Halifax are unlikely to close your account, as tbey do not need to be informed of your IVA. They are generally a very supportive bank, so I would not worry about this any more.

Hi
Do not worry about something that may not happen. If it does then Halifax will give you plenty of notice giving you plenty of time to open a new account. There are many accounts that you can open if the worst happens.

I kept my Lloyds TSB account when I was in my IVA and it wasn't even a basic account - I am now bankrupt and they were happy for me to still keep the account.

Onwards and upwards!!!
