Hi,

After a nightmare, I am finally BR.

Tried an IVA but it didn’t work because my income dropped and my original IVA took into account my wife’s income. I requested variation to IVA, creditors refused so I faced up to BR.

I got paid on the 28th, BR appointment this morning, there for 9:00am. Took online forms with me, drivers licence, and of course £485 cash.

BR clerk was bit of a dragon, told me I filled out the forms wrongly. I asked why/where, said that she could not advise me on BR – What a help!

I managed to read through forms, crossed through bits that were not correct, and finally had the ok from the clerk. I couldn’t believe this as I thought the online forms sorted all of this for you.

Judge was really nice, and asked me why I couldn’t pay my debts (mine were £160,000). I said my IVA had failed.

BR approved.

I went back to the clerk, and she was a little bit friendlier this time.

What I couldn’t believe was that I was asked into the office area of the court and asked to sit next to a telephone in the open plan office. (I didn’t want to look at anyone around me, just in case anyone recognised me.)

I waited ages in the office area of the court for the OR to telephone. He asked a few detailed questions, finished the call and that was it.

NO MORE HASSLE FACED MY PROBLEM.

OR said that he would be writing to me, and I would probably have a telephone interview within next few weeks.

It was an absolute nightmare from IVA to BR.

All done now, so glad its over.

Little bit of advice, dont be afraid of all of this, get it all sorted.

You'll feel a lot better after, and of course you can have a lot of friendly advice from this website, including Melanie!!

Many thanks to you all for your help,

When I went into Nationwide to talk to them about my account I asked if I could speak to someone in private and they took me around the corner of the counter, still in full view of the queue. I told her I'd been made bankrupt and she asked me to repeat what I'd said - I felt like standing up, banging on the counter and making an announcement in case not everyone heard!

I laughed at the bit where you said the lady told you that you had filled things in wrong but that she was not allowed to help you!! Its a funny old world sometimes!!!

Well done pm.e ... I attended court last week regarding a charge on my property placed by one of my creditors. There was a list of about 30 names (companies and individuals) on the wall marked "Mr Jones vs OR" ... do they really have that amount each day or do they have a day each week to deal with the BRs? The usher occassionally called out "Mr Jones/ smith/Brown vs The Official Receiver room 1/2/3 please" ... the confidence gained through the support on this website just simply made me giggle to myself!!! Isn't it great when you face your monsters and can laugh in the face of adversity! [:)]
