I've been reading through the insolvency service guide to bankruptcy, the section regarding discharge from bankruptcy and BROs. You may be subject to a BRO if "you have been in someway to blame for your Bankruptcy" How can you not be "in someway to blame". I am in debt and whilst there have been may factors that have attributed to my current situation I do accept that I am " in someway to blame" for the situation. How does this statement actually translate in to everyday situations? Do most people become subject to a BRO if petitioning for Bankruptcy?

Hi louise

This if for the Official Receiver to judge. BRO's are still fairly rare, and are generally only made if you fail to disclose anything to them which they find out about at a later stage. They can also be made if the OR feels you have been reckless - such as gambling. Just be honest in your application and I am sure you will be discharged after one year.

hello louiseh, welcome to the forum. There is a bro/bru site where they list name and deed committed. Just click and see for yourself what some people get them for. I wouldn't worry about receiving one. You have enough on your plate. Just making the decision, the vacillating, was difficult enough. Just be honest with the OR. The site address is:
http://www.insolvency-service.co.uk/ddi ... search.htm

There is a sister site for bankruptcy information. The site address is :
http://www.bankruptcyhelp.org.uk.
