Over the last few months i have been stressed more than ever, i had so much debt i didn't know where to turn to next.

I spoke to a super lady called Viki Warbrooke, who put me in the right direction. From today i have been officially bankrupt, and the relief is so unbelievable, i cant stop smiling.

I would like to thank everyone on here who has left messages of advice and support, But the biggest thank You i would like to give to is of course Viki

So Viki from my self and wife i would like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU for all the help over the last 4 months or so, i dont think we could have done it with out you.
BIG THANK YOU AGAIN

Hi Steven

Thank you so much for your post - it has given me a lot of encouragement. I am going to court tomorrow to officially declare myself bankrupt and have been going through the one moment I am ok the next I am not ok syndrome. Melanie Giles and Melanie Nichols have been fantastic with me and I had a last pep talk with Melanie Nichols this morning which really helped too. I have finished the forms and photocopied them. Just got to pick up the remainder of the money to pay from the bank tomorrow before going. I know it sounds a funny question Steven - but did you wear a suit to go to court? I don't know if I should wear one or not? I feel like I should as it is so official but then I don't know.

Really pleased you feel so much better - I hope I do to.

Take Care

my wife said the same question, i just turned uo in a pair of jeans and shirt, my normal every day look, i sat in a small room with only one lady looking at my form, i was there around 2 hours and all sorted, i was so nervous, but its nothing to be afraid about. its over before you know it, i hope it all goes well for you, i'm sure it will, you will have to let me know, as i will be looking out for you now poppy :)

Its not every day you make yourself BR but I would advise wearing whatever feels comfortable. I sweat more as soon as I put my suit on,and instantly become more nervous!!!

Hi Steven

Thanks for the advice. I shall ponder on it a bit more. Image
I found the BR forms a bit Imageat first, but did find an excellent guide on the Citizens advice that has a completed example on there so you can see exactly what to do. Then Melanie Nichols answered all the questions I had queries on and that was that. I was really worried that someone was going to come round to the house and list everything inside it and then try and take it. My kiddies are disabled so it is all their equipment etc. I was scared they would take. But Melanie said that was 20 years ago and now things are really different. So that was a huge relief. I was told I have to go in tomorrow morning to submit the forms etc. then see the judge on Wednesday morning. Did you see a judge at all?

Ah Good point Paul

Yes wearing a suit does make me more nervous. The only time I have ever worn them in the last three years was to go to court for the children's education cases etc. And I was really nervous. I know it all sounds petty but do you think jeans would be disrespectful? That's what I am worried about is that the court people and judge will think I am being disrespectful.

Some great posts here about bankruptcy, which of course is not as bad as it might seem at first glance. And superb feedback for our Viki, who has not been around much lately due to motherhood, but it is great to see you back!

It shows you the lesser stigma of bankruptcy nowadays.....that you are more worried about the judge judging you on your appearance than on becoming BR.

smart jeans will do just fine,or whatever you feel comfy in.
