I heard that you can pay to have your bankruptcy taken off your credit rating, is this true?

Hi
Not heard of this but have heard of credit repair companies.I am sure that there is no way that a bankruptcy notice can be taken off your credit file unless the request comes from the official receiver.
I wouldn't waste time or money on this sort of thing as the bankruptcy information will fall off your credit files automatically after six years.

Ah, if only it were that simple. The defaults on my credit file will outlive the information pertaining to my IVA being removed in March 2012. Unfortunatley, its a case of waiting. Although, I am surprised to read Bankruptcy is only recorded for 6 years as I was told 10 years by my IP so that I would see the differences.

I can confirm that six years is the correct period, and that you cannot pay to reduce this at all, unless you were to pay all the debts off in full, in which case the accounts would be marked "satisfied".

Bankruptcy will remain on your credit file for a duration of 6 years from the day you are declared bankrupt. Its interesting that people out there would want to take your money to remove a bankruptcy from your credit report.
