They Have called work again and now informed the loudest person in my office that I have to call them as a matter of urgency regarding the letters they have been sending and I need to make payment urgently !!!
At least ten people heard- I just want the ground to swallow me up!
I've just called and raised a complaint then I got cut off

Call them back again. Inform them that by calling you at work your employment is at risk and then they get heehaw from you. Disgusting behaviour. As for those in the office dont worry about that, gossip soon changes when something else comes up to talk about. Tell them that you have had a disagreement with something that appears on your bill and that you have a solicitor working things out on your behalf, that should stop any chat!!!

I told them I was not allowed personal calls to the office- and they certainly should not be discussing my business with anyone other than me......
the guy was apologetic but what that phrase about shutting the stable door.

The need to make a payment urgently is surely a breach of data protection?? Ask to speak to a SUPERVISOR when you phone back and make sure your complaint is officially logged, perhaps even write a letter of complaint also.

That is really bad. They are only supposed to ask to speak to you, nothing else. They should not be talking about making payments or letters with anyone but you!

I would certainly be making a strong complaint to them.

As to work, you could always try and say that they have been hounding you for someone elses debt and you are trying to get it sorted out? May work, may not?

That's good, and a good excuse for other people to use as well if they are phoned at work.

What is Barclaycards problem? They are by far the worst of my creditors, though Halifax come a close second!

They ring me about 10 times a day still, even though I have a letter from them saying that they know I have applied for an IVA. They always leave a voicemail, and now they are texting me too.

Surely they cannot be allowed to get away with them telling someone else that they are chasing a payment. Disgusting.
Life is a rollercoaster, we just have to ride it!

iva approved. 5 down 55 to go

hi stressed-sorry just read this-havent been on since weekend.
what these guys have done is seriously in breach of data protection-companies can get fined a lot for this. maybe you should mention this next time they bother you.
all your buddies are here to look after you. hope you dont have too long to go for your creditors meeting. [:)]

This is appalling, and it is about time people stopped this constant harassment of customers in their workplace - or at home for that matter. And it does seem to be the same few names cropping up all the time.

I had similar situation last week. Not quite as blatant, but a company called Calder Financial are calling my work on a three times a week basis. I have talked to them, filled them in on my situation (creditors meet due in about three weeks, informed them by letter of impending IVA etc etc) the trouble is, when I'm not able to take the call, they leave a message saying i must call them urgently about some financial trouble I have with them" or that they are calling about a financial situation that has arisen and needs urgent attention. They have suggested to my colleague that i am avoiding their call, my colleague are a bit bemused as to why this 'random' company keeps calling for me and they have recently managed to get my work mobile number from a colleague so i get calls daily on my mobile - some of which are picked up in my office by the same colleagues when I'm in meetings. They always leave their name and company details and it wouldn't take a genius in my team (and i work with very clever people) to check online to see who the company are.

I think leaving a name and sufficient details is a ploy to subtly threaten me - they know, i know that it is tantamount to just telling, but it doesn't stop them.

You know what the worst thing is? ...Im the MD of my Company. The company is very sound, but if any of my colleagues chose to look online, they would become very worried for their futures and I'm sure some would look for work elsewhere. If this was the case, their lives would have been influenced and changed because of the unscrupulous stalking and the company i work for would suffer and potentially so would my position - this would lead me to unemployment, and certain failure of an IVA - who is the winner I wonder?

Thats terrible!! I would call and say i will report them- they should not be letting on your work that its a financial issue-
the people who work at these companies dont seem to understand by getting people in trouble at work and potentially fired means they will get even less!

There seems to be a lot of firms at the moment who are not content with just leaving a message, or calling back, they have to say who they are and why they are calling.

I wonder if it is because so many people are ignoring calls and messages that they feel that if they mention 'financial trouble', it will scare the intended recepient into calling.

This just isn't on and something needs to be done about it.
