As you may know our IVA was approved almost unanimously last week.
This morning, before 10am, we have had 2 calls from Barclaycard/Mercers. We had a barclaycard credit card and a barclaycard loan.
We told them about iva being approved and they said they had no record and how much could we pay today??
Explained again about not favouring ceditors etc and the first call ended fairly ok.
Not 5 minutes later phone rang again, them again but different person. Went through it all again and had same response from them but they also added that they would be visiting us at home to get payment.
I know it takes a while to filter down, and that they are only doing their job but this is a really really bad weeked for us on a personal level (son should have been 21 tomorrow) and I do not know what I will do if they carry on ringing or turn up.
I just can't take anymore with all the other emotions etc we're trying to get through. It's hard enough to get up in the morning and take part in life as it is without this and I stupidly thought that after last weeks outcome, things would start to improve. Now, I just don't know what to do for the best.
Just wanted to get it off my chest.
I'm sorry you are still having troubles Pap. Could you not unplug the phone? Or just not answer it? Barclaycard will sometimes leave a message on the ansaphone, but you don't have to ring them back.
They won't turn up, this is just the call centres and they are the last in the food chain to be told.
You could of course always let rip at them - I'd be tempted to do so.
Or, if you answer the phone, refuse to confirm your details, they cannot carry on then.
Thinking of you at this difficult time Pap, you will get through it and things will get better.
Just remember that we're here for you.

Thanks for your kind thoughts Jan,
we could unplug the phone but the chances are family will try to get hold of us tomorrow.
I know we'll survive but I just wish they'd give us some peace for a while.
Keep your chin up P, they probably think they are being big making idle threats, RMA rang me twice yesterday, the first time to apologise for ringing me on Friday as they have got all of my details, and the second time to ask when am I paying them, well for the first time I completely lost it, I told him in no uncertain terms what I thought of him and basically don't bother ringing again. They probably will but it made me feel a lot better, it's better to lose it with a faceless voice than with the ones around you.
This sort of behaviour is simply not acceptable once an IVA is in place. Please get the name of the person you next speak to, and the name of their line manager as well, so that we can take it up with Barclays and Mercers.
I know it's a difficult time for you but please don't worry about BC etc they will eventually get the message. As jan says they are usually call centre staff who have to make so many calls a day. I used to get anxious at all the calls but now to deal with it I play up a little bit like getting the questions wrong or things like when they ask for my date of birth I ask for theirs as well. I know that the situation we are all in is not a game but I find it helps to deal with it.
Also did you know that if you phone BT and tell them you are getting nusaince calls they will change your number within 5 days free of charge? This will stop all calls fir you providing you make sure you tell BT to make you ex directory.
Please stay strong and we are all thinking about you.
Pap, sorry to learn of your troubles starting again; the last time we had a call from B/C David told them that he would report them to his IP who said she would take up the matter at the highest level even to an objection to their operating licence. That stopped them; this morning we had a telephone call from them they apologized for their records not being uptodate;(David told them they have had the copies of Melanie's standard letter and have submitted balances to her)- different dept they said! The caller took note of Melanie's full name, company address etc and said we would not be bothered again until after the meeting of creditors but added (just to worry us I think) you may not get an IVA then what? David told them to address that question "to Mrs Giles at the address I've given you" The caller, I have to say was very polite this time>. We shall be thinking of you tomorrow.J
Chin up Pap. You have, and are going through, more than anybody could ever begin to understand. You have the same reason as me for not unplugging the phone, but just think to yourself that your IVA is set up, and they will stop calling you. If the phonecall is going nowhere, just be polite, tell them that they have all the information they require, and tell them you are terminating the call and put the phone down.
Literally as i type, ive just had another "robot" call from barclaycard, i pressed all different buttons and because i couldnt confirm my details, i was put in a queue to talk to somebody! Sorry, my Sundays are more valuable to me and loved ones as it is.
Our thoughs and best wishes go to you and your family Pap, and if you have any more problems, we are all here to help.
Give Mel the name and line manager and she will undoubtedly sort it.
God bless
Dan

hi pap sorry to hear of your troubles. i had exactly the same issue iva agreed on 27/2 and they were calling up until 2 weeks ago. they did call at home but man was very nice i said i was in an iv a gave him my court ref number and he left. it is traumatic i know i would dread the door bell ringing but it wasnt that bad honest. the calls do get you down, they are so incompetent, i took the name of the deprtment manager and advised them if they called again i would report them for harrassment.
These difficulties with Barclaycard are they simply a question of left hand right hand? They do not seem competent in communication between one department and another. The treatment from them to us has been bad enough but we have not had the outrageous treatment that so many of you have had - how you have tolerated I do not know. Surely comething can be done about it at IP level? J
