Morning to you all, im hoping someone can put my mind at rest and calm me down!!!
After being in IVA since March 2007, and all running well, even the change from Debtmatters to Payplan went smoothly, today out of the blue we have received a credit card statement (id forgotton what they looked like). It was from one of our creditor HBOS, asking for our payment of £2815 by the 7th Nov.
Major panic, havent had anything like this since before IVA started!... double checked that they were included in IVA which they are. They actually voted in acceptance. And the total owing then was exactly the amount they are asking us for now.
I have emailed our IP at Payplan, (i much prefer the email method) so i can back up our communication. Expect i wont get a response till monday, but our contact there Amanda is really good and generally replies within the hour,
Any advice from Melanie or anyone in the meantime would be much appreciated just to keep me a little calmer.
Hope all is well with you. Dont worry you are totally protected by your iva. Take no notice and forward as you have done to your Ip. I received one not long ago telling me I had agreed to pay the debt in installments, I actually rang them. It turned out they had sold the debt to some company and I really think this company was trying it on. I phoned the actual creditor who was really annoyed and said dont worry I will deal with them. Never heard a thing. Send on to your Ip and enjoy your weekend.
Don't worry about it Baz. Melanie posted the other day to say that new legislation was passed on October 1st stating that banks had to send out a yearly statement to their customers, but they have misunderstood and sent statements to people in IVAs as well.
thank you for your words of wisdom!!! iam sure they are just trying it on, its just so annoying that we havent seen anything like this for 19 months, and when i opened it all our previous worried came flooding back, felt physically sick!!! It says pay by 7th Nov so am just worried what we might receive after that date passes.
