absolutely great news im really pleased for you

but lets not forget its really unacceptable to keep a client waiting for 12 months for their certificate and the larger companies like Grant thornton & DFD really need to address this situation and focus more on closure than on PPI commissions. i fully appreciate they are in some cases tasked to claim PPI , but they should be recruiting additional staff in order to speed up completions, which they could easily do by using some of the commission they take for the PPI claim ( i think im correct in saying that the IVA cos get a commission also )

I note in any marketing blurb with IVA F&Qs, there have been no amendments saying it can be 6-12 months after last payment before completion certificates are issued.

This isnt a pop at the superb IPs who post on here, but I really hope some consumer champion could take up our case for a national campaign !!
Last payment made April 2012
Certificate received 1st Nov 2012

Congratulations.

12 months is way too long but at least it now means that all your defaults and the IVA itself will have dropped off your credit file as long as all the default dates are correct.
Last Payment - November 2011 - Completion Certificate received 2 weeks after last payment, Removed from Insolvency Register within 4 weeks after last payment.

Congratulations and well done, good luck for your now debt free future.

12 months to go, fully agree with you on that one, it is outrageous for companies taking that length of time to complete. This whole fiasco is frustrating to say the least. x
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.

IVA COMPLETED August 2012, received Completion certificate 18.4.13.

Nice to put this behind you now - even thought it took somewhat longer than expected. Enjoy your first debt-free weekend for a number of years, and get the champers out!

Thanks once again to everyone for their kind thoughts!

A couple of things I now know...

1) I didn't realise I'd not had a decent night's sleep in years.
2) Five (or six) years pass really quickly as you get older.
3) Having no money teaches you a lot about living sensibly.
4) It doesn't take much to make you feel rich when you've had nothing for years.

Also, in spite of all the complaining, realistically the 12 month wait for my CoC hasn't materially impacted upon me, other than to my sanity and ability to relax. Sure, it's taken a long time to process and it really shouldn't have, but at the ened of the day it's at least finally all done, and the 12 month 'worry period' at the end has helped in a way, by preventing me going mad with all the extra money I've had due to worrying about what might happen. As a result it's meant 12 months of comfortable albeit still restricted living, which has been another good lesson.

I'm not defending or advocating 12 month closures, and there should be no reason why it should ever take that long, but in my case although I've complained bitterly about it looking back rationally it's not been too bad a road; and I could blame myself for not chasing my IP early or hard enough for some of the delay.

All said and done in the end GT came through for me and things got sorted out. Thanks to Karol, who must have the patience of a saint to put up with what she must go through, and certainly helps sort out loads of issues when people despair of normal routes - she deserves a medal.

Thanks also to the good people of iva.co.uk, who although I've only recently started posting, have unknowingly helped me through several years.
IVA Completed!

Final payment made November 2011.

CoC received 12/10/12.

what a brilliant post & I quote

2) Five (or six) years pass really quickly as you get older.
3) Having no money teaches you a lot about living sensibly.
4) It doesn't take much to make you feel rich when you've had nothing for years.

this is exactly how i feel; i know in the early days yes time did drag, but i rememebr thinking when i had 2 yrs to go, compared to the 4 yrs i had done this time would fly and indeed it has and i made my last payment in April. Boy have a learned how to value money and im not easily parted with it. As you say, having had no money really does teach you its value and i for one think very carefully about buying something, even though I can afford it now.

Your post hopefully will be an inspiration to fellow members who stull have some way to go.
Last payment made April 2012
Certificate received 1st Nov 2012

Congratulations. We are in the long closing stages. Since our last paymnet we have recieved email saying they are satisfied we have lived up to our obligations and owe nothing more etc and passed the first stage of closure review. Now on to the long wait for the certificate. Hope its here sooner rather than later.
Enjoy being debt free and good luck with the rest of your lives.

Great news IVAnotoveryet (it is now!!!!) - very happy to read your posts and I like the 4 points you have learned - glad the sleep is getting better! Great feedback for Karol - I think there would be a lot more unhappy clients if its wasn't for her diligence.

Glad you have found the forum such a support and I hope we may see you pop on here from time to time. Best wishes :-)
