Hi we were due to start an IVA with Blair Endersby. We paid £360 upfront and and the creditors meeting is due on the 24th of the month.
We have since decided to go Bankrupt and I have just rang them to inform them. They have told me to write in and inform them our our decision but that we could face costs of upto £2500 from them.

Is this true does anyone know. How can they expect us to pay this if we are going to go Bankrupt.

Thanks

Mick

That's a new one on me as well. You have already paid them money upfront, which I assume they will keep as fees, but I don't see where the other money is coming from.

You are entitled to withdraw at any time you like prior to an IVA being approved, and it is far better that you do it now, rather than enter into and then let it fail.

Hi Jan,

The problem with these people (and I am with them) is that you always speak to inexperienced advisors on the phone as they are an IVA Factory and never to anyone in the know so they are probably just trying to get as much out of people as possible

This is the only problem with dealing with a large firm, you never get to speak to the same person twice and you tend to get conflicting information.

Write to them and cancel Mick, I doubt they would charge you that and I would imagine that even if they did, you could include it in your bankruptcy!

Mick,

He is the main IP and if you send it for his attention nobody else can open it, better that than call centre staff and it possibly going missing.

Yeah thanks Ray. Just rang them up again and spoke to someone else. They were much more helpful and said as the meeting with creditors has not yet taken place then there will be no other fees if I write in and emplain I want to cancel.

If things are not stressfull enough lol, just one thing after another.

Now just got to hope he can keep creditors of our backs for 6 weeks till we can pay for BR. Curtains closed and doors locked I think.

Thanks again everyone

Mick,

Well done, things will be ok.

Just remember we are all here if you need any advice.

There are quite a few on here who have gone bankrupt and it is not as bad as you think. If you read Skippy's blog she is a prime example

Glad you spoke to someone with some sense Mick.

Don't forget, if you have any questions about going BR, come on and ask us, someone will be able to help you.

Let us know how you are getting on.
