Haven't been around much recently so I hope everyone is well. Laptop still broke and desk top taken over by child usually!

Have gone on to read blogs and seen that mine hasn't been updated since June (hangs head in shame!) and that there's not much to read on anyothers really!

The blogs provided me with so much comfort and support at the start that I am making an early New Years Resolution to update at least once a month from now!

Merry Christmas!!

I like reading the blogs too and do look at least once a week to read the updates if there are any. Maybe in the New Year we'll have stuff to write about.
Well done on being 70% through your IVA x

I'm going to update mine in the New Year once I've finishe and try and read it through and just see what a journey I've been on.

Remember folks there's also Andy looking in and he chooses a blog periodically to win a voucher so an added incentive. x

Each to their own but I know I'll have a credit card and pay it off in full each month, it'll be a reminder of how I can be self-controlled now x

Same here Lesley. I've had a Vanquis card for a couple of years but I've now cancelled that and I'm a named card holder on one of Dave's cards so we can collect Nectar points. The card is paid in full every month in the same way as the Vanquis card was.

I agree Lesley and Skippy....they have there uses and if you are careful and pay it off each month in full then it can be good for credit rebuilding etc....but I just really don't know if I would be trusted with one again and don't want to put myself into that position either.....what I cannot afford I cannot have is my new motto, but I fully appreciated each to their own...

I'm a bit with you on this one Liz, while in theory I love nothing more than the thought of having a credit card, being in control using it and paying it off in full every month, at the moment certainly I think I would still be tempted and could easily start the spiral again, although I would never let it get as bad!, so for me I think I would rather have plenty of funds saved so i didn't need to use credit for anything in the future.

I'll not use the card unless I've the cash to pay it off in full. I'll use it initially for fuel as it's something I'd have to buy anyway and sometimes (depending on the card I realise) you have extra protection from paying with a credit card.

It'll not be for everyone I agree but it will be for me.. As you progress through your IVA Lem you may change your mind and want to prove your willpower to yourself. x

So far I have found my co-op debit card has been accepted averywhere, other than that I have a Paypal master card ( pre-paid, as you have to have the cash in your paypal account ). At the moment, I feel these are all I'll need, so I don't think I will be applying for a credit card, unless, over the next few years I find myself needing one (car hire or some such).

I hope so Lesley as I know that it's going to be the best way to improve our credit rating at the end, we'll do as you say, use it for fuel to start, it'll be a challenge!, maybe all this cold turkey will pay off
