We've got cast iron fireplaces in our bedroom as well as the high ones in the dining room and lounge, I hasten to add chimneys duly blocked up due to my fear of birds and none are used for open fires! No gas fires though x

We've got a huge cast iron fire place in the living room and lighting a fire is no problem at all, it takes seconds to get a good fire going, then needs a prod every now and again.
Doesn't take much cleaning either. Couple of minutes and it's done. Hardly a chore.
The girls like making the paper briquettes, it's fun for them. We've just discovered the green dragon solid fuel too, which is fab: burns three times as long as wood and produces twice as much heat. It's a by product too, very sustainable.

We are going to have to agree to disagree on this one - I'm afraid I'm getting idle in my old age and like things to be easy.

I'm into a flick of a switch these days.

I'm afraid I don't do anything other than normal household chores - hubby does the rest.

I'm an idle so and so. I want all my mod cons and couldn't be doing with anything else!

I wish I could turn my hand to decorating or anything useful, I try but it never turns out right [:I]

Hubby is worse than me, so we rely on friends and family.[:I]

I have to confess that Mr R does most of the cleaning of the fire..brings out the latent cave man in him I think! [:)]

Hubby does all of our decorsting, he wouldn't let me near any anything and I don't blame him! I just pick the colours!

I'll stick with washing and ironing!

I don't even iron, I really do consider myself to be lazy in comparison to so many on here and to that of my other friends. Lazy or lucky not sure, but I know if I moved more I'm sure I'd lose more weight!

I hate anyone doing my ironing, although hubby has to do his own trousers as he doesn't like the way I press them.

I don't iron either! Everything gets dried on hangers and the creases drop out. I know I'm lazy as Dave does most of the cooking and housework - my defence is he's home more than me!

I shall finish the washing and ironing tomorrow.

I am very fussy about the laundry and it has to be done the way I want it!

This is me who is an idle so and so usually!

I do the washing, he does the ironing, he loads and unloads the dishwasher as apparently I'm useless at that, (oh what a shame, another job I don't have to do)!

Hubby does the housework as he is at home all day. We share dishwasher duties but it is nearly always him who washes up the stuff which can't go in there.

I'm feeling guilty now.....or maybe not [:D] Hubby does all the cooking and generally cleaning up. I do the clothes washing... well load them into the automatic machine[:I] and we share the ironing.

I do make the beds, so I'm not entirely lazy [:D]

I think it's often the case LadyH of being too soft in the beginning, I started off the way I meant to go on and we shared everything from the beginning, he's took over more and I've stood back therefore he gets the bigger share now.
